Saints Row 4

Per IGN:

Saints Row 4 could be headed to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this August, rather than on the next-generation consoles expected to launch this fall. Publisher Deep Silver, who picked up the property following the dissolution of THQ, has yet to confirm any details.

However, Chris Stockman, design director on the original Saints Row, tweeted to IGN that "the word around the campfire is SR4 is shipping on current gen consoles in late August." IGN inquired with Deep Silver, who stated it's "still working on [timing] with Volition," and that it hasn't "announced platforms yet."

Previously, Saints Row: Enter the Dominatrix, an expansion to Saints Row: The Third, was rolled up into a full-fledged sequel. An August date for that particular game would put it a month ahead of its open-world rival, Grand Theft Auto V and its September release date. Speaking with GI.biz, Deep Silver's parent company, Koch Media, supported this notion. CEO Klemens Kundratitz said there's "no doubt" the next Saints Row will release in 2013.

Re: Saints Row 4

As someone who preordered that expansion day one, and foolishly checked the Amazon order every so often (even months after everyone but Amazon knew it was canceled), I say GIVE ME SAINTS ROW 4 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Re: Saints Row 4

You knew it wasn't going to be a next gen title if they were actualy going to include Enter The Dominatrix as part of SR4. So this shouldn't even be news.

That said, I want this game now!

Glad to see this is still on the table. Never played the first two, but the third one is amazing.

The third was also my first and only experience with the series. I loved it so much that I want to get SR2 on PC and play through that one as well.

The third one might have been the worst of the series.

Damn, the first two must've been amazing then, because the third (the only one I've played) was awesome.

It's legitimately my favorite game I've played in the past couple of years. I've heard a lot of complaints from people who were fans of the first two, so maybe there was a really stark change in tone/gameplay that didn't sit all that well. Diving in where I did, though...just a deliriously depraved good time.

I never played the first, and I really enjoyed the second. I should still give this a shot.

From what I've read, the first game was serious, the 2nd added some offbeat humour, and then the third (the only one I've played) went completely batshit insane.

Zero Punctuation compared the series progression to that of the Evil Dead trilogy.

You nailed it... The third was so over the top it kind of became a chore to me. The second game is the sweet spot, IMO.

Ok let me clarify I did enjoy the third one. It just was overhyped to Hell.

As a huge fan of the series, I agree with this.

This is very welcome news. I had no idea we were getting another game so soon.

According to the official Facebook page for the title, the head of the Saints has been elected President of the United States, leading the charge against an alien force in a struggle to save humanity. Players will "wield gargantuan superpowers" and have an "arsenal of alien weaponry and technology" at their disposal, as well as the ability to leap buildings, outrun enemies and use telekinesis.

August 23rd according to that trailer.

And FUCK YES. I played around with SR1 and SR2 a little and they were fine. Obviously a GTA knock-off series.

Saints Row the Third felt like they said "fuck it, let's do whatever we want" and it was finally awesome. Can't wait for part IV.
