GAH! I love how these episodes sneak up on us. I'm glad I knew nothing of who was showing up. So we now know how it happened. So essentially this 9th season will not drag on the question...hopefully....please...

Good episode. Nice acting on the rooftop.

Come on. So we're to believe Ted meets his wife at at the wedding this year, but spends another whole year in the dark about meeting his wife? So we're looking at a whole season of Ted trying to find the bass player?
As for this episode, another turd. Ironically the only laugh I got was from the confetti.

I don't know how they would pull it off either. We know the wedding is in 2013 and the baby is there in 2014 (they already painted themselves into a major corner with the quickness of that. As desperate as Ted has been for the family, it's a pretty big leap to think he wouldn't want a bit more time in the honeymoon stage with the girl he's been dying to meet before starting a family. Anyway...) The only way it would seem to work is if they abandoned the real-time aspect.
Or they could be setting us up to be thrown off, expecting not to meet her until later, only to show her at the season finale and then have a whole year with her.
Or they could be laughing at us, counting their stacks of money while muttering "we'll figure it out" as they clutch cigars in their teeth.

I liked that as well. I thought the reveal on the roof was going to be about Lily having a more direct role in Marvin's issues...something like switching from breastfeeding to formula, and feeling guilty that it was causing her baby pain. Not a "I wanna run away" type confession...

"Holly confetti!"
I still don't understand all the fuss about meeting the mother. And I'm talking about the internet in general, not just this forum.
I don't care either way.
Yeah, the show has lost its luster, I'm ready for it to end, and I think the actors too, but I'll keep watching until the end, it's still entertaining to me.

Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "Band or DJ" -- 1/14/13
I think it's because the show has the ability to be much more entertaining/funny when it loosens up about the need to either advance the ultimate plot, or take out the roadblocks to reaching the ultimate plot (like bringing back Victoria for a bunch of terrible episodes when we knew they weren't going to end up together). If they're delaying showing us the mother, it's just going to be more of the same, whereas if they spent the last season having Ted and the mother date and hang out among the group, it could be more like old times when the episodes stood on their own.
And you could also have more time for Ted to explain to his kids why he loves their mother so much more than the woman he whined to them about for 8 years.

So they finish last year with a great episode then instantly returning to the Ted-Robin circle jerk that nobody wants to listen too. Sigh. Please end already.

I have to say I sighed in exasperation when I clicked in to the thread and saw this was only episode 13 of 24. Last night was a good episode, they need to stop while they can still crank out the occasional good episode.

I'd rather see this end on a high note this year than drag it out another season. I fear at least half season nine will turn into "How I Meet Your Father" because they will run out of stuff for Ted's story.

She's 26 in real life. I'm wondering if the scenes with Ted's kids are from stock prerecorded clips.

Funniest line was when Ray Wise stomped into the pizzeria and Barney was instantly terrified.

All of Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie's scenes as Ted's future children were filmed during the first season to keep them the same age throughout the series. This includes a scene for the show's eventual final episode that includes the titular Mother

Kinda funny to think about these kids spending a couple of days shooting scenes where they acted like they were listening to this nonsense.
