Oh right, I forgot that was how it ended last week.
It's been a while since I watched season two but if I recall correctly

How stupid was Dexter letting Hannah live? Hell, he went to another country just to kill Lila.

Why the fuck would Dex let Hannah live? Why would Deb? She's the only one who can bring both of them down. She KNOWS he's murdered people. Hell, it looks like that plays directly into next week's finale, but I have no idea how they'd even let it get to that point.
Also, it seems like letting that guy who killed his mother go would also be a plot point that comes back to burn him. Fuck, at this point it's not if he gets caught, but when. There are way too many strings left hanging.
Of course, Dex was a fucking idiot to even go after that guy in the first place. Of course, it was a total coincidence that he gets released just as two of the highest ranking people in the force are investigating that you may be the Bay Harbor Butcher. Fucking moron deserves to be locked up for the rest of his life.

That's what I was thinking. Deb did say she would do anything to save Dexter from Hannah. Then again, she was tracking down a witness so it doesn't make sense that she would poison herself before seeing how things played out with the witness.

I have no doubts Deb dosed her own water. It was the only way to get Hannah out of the picture, but of course she didn't think that Hannah knows everything that Dex does and has done. Stupid move.
I wonder if the dude who got away will play into next year. Seems like quite a bit part for a fairly name actor (Nestor Serrano) to play as one and done.
Also, I have speculation that something is going to happen to Angel. I don't know why, but I just get the feeling it will.

My guess is that after Deb saw how unreliable the witness would be, she had to take drastic action.

Holy fuck. This episode just cranked the tension up massively. I'm with the other posters in here that say Deb dosed her water with the pills herself because she was so desperate to bring Hannah in.
Dexter was a damn idiot for going after Estrada. It felt wrong from the get go him going after him and even if it had worked out the guy going missing shortly after being released was going to be suspicious. Either way this failed attempt has got to come back to screw him over eventually.
Speculation for next week's finale going off the previews:
Regardless of what happens this season has been incredible thus far. This show has redeemed itself in a big way if you ask me after having a couple weaker seasons. I can't wait seeing how the finale plays out and what happens in the next season. I really hope it ends on a high note.

Really dumb move on Dexter's part to go after that guy knowing that LaGuerta has been on his ass and knows that the Doakes building is tied to his mother's killers. He had "bait" written all over him.

Yeah why on Earth would Dexter let her go if she knows all this stuff. But also he didn't take heed of her explanation that if she really wanted to kill Deb, she would not have failed. I seriously doubt she had anything to do with Deb.

So Estrada was being followed.....except for that one time that Dexter set up the meeting. And of course, the cops lose him long enough to give Dexter a chance to escape. If LaGuerta was really serious about catching Dexter, you'd think she'd put a little more effort into following his every move.
I agree about Deb spiking the water. It didn't make sense for Hannah to even try it, knowing what Dexter does. And the whole turning Hannah in makes very little sense from Dexter and Deb's perspective. I'm sure this illogical move will make more sense with the finale but it is another example of characters doing stupid things for the sake of keeping the story going along.

I thought it was fantastic. I thought the La Guerta storyline was legit coming to an end or at least a hiatus. I only wish they explored that trap more. He got away pretty easily and I thought it was a waste of a pretty good idea.

I wonder if they're setting him up as a big bad for next season. It would be a good bookend to the series with Dexter learning more about his mother and Harry along the way.
