Pretty good episode. Once again, the writers use a fresh victim / perpetrator plot. Amazing.

Nice LOST reunion.

Jim Caviezel would make a good Batman.

I thought that is what he's playing. Reese is Batman in a suit. Finch plays the role of Oracle, dispensing advice from a computer. If they add a kid sidekick and elderly butler, Warner should sue themselves.

I've been making the Batman connection from the first episode (series created by Jonathan "The Dark Knight / The Dark Knight Rises" Nolan) but no one here ever really agreed with me about it.

I see Finch as more of a composite of both Bruce Wayne (ridiculous wealth, double life) and Alfred (keeps Batman grounded, fights from behind the scenes, works the computers, handles the regular-type life stuff)

Carter is Gordon.

Fusco is one of the many crooked cops on Gotham's Police force.

All the references to the "man in the suit", the weaponry, the badassery, the TDK-style surveillance device taken up several notches...Of course John Reese is Batman and I for one LOVE the parallels.

He reminds me specifically of Harvey Bullock.

True but there's no "Dark Knight Trilogy" equivalent other than Flass from Batman Begins, and he doesn't really fit the bill.

If they ever make reference to that with Fusco's son, then we know for sure.

I don't even know what falafel tastes like.

Even though Flass wasn't in TDK they did follow up with why he wasn't in the film in that great viral campaign they had leading up to it. He was charged under Dent's IA / corrupt cop campaign and committed to a mental hospital.

I say this with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality: Jim Caviezel looks fabulous on this show. I wish I had his tailor.

Fusco getting called at the restaurant was funny, but I felt bad for him having his personal life interupted like that
although it appeared to have ended up helping him

What about Michael Wuertz? Nolan admitted that Anna Ramirez was originally intended to be Renée Montoya. It's not much of a stretch to think that Wuertz was originally envisioned as Bullock.

I didn't mention Wuertz because he's barely in the film at all. He came off as a generic corrupt cop with very few lines and almost nothing to do compared to Ramirez who was a much bigger presence. Flass was also a much bigger presence.

True. Slightly off topic, it always amused me that Flass looked like the polar opposite of his comic book counterpart.
