Essential holiday viewing at your house?

What movies are a tradition for you to watch during the holidays?

I always watch Christmas Vacation and Die Hard, along with the Charlie Brown specials for Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas. Home Alone is also on the list. I've "retired" Christmas Story, just because I've seen it so many times (seems like TBS has it on a loop throughout December).

So what are your annual Holiday movies?

We used to watch A Christmas Story every year, I think I'm gonna try and get the family to watch Love Actually instead.

A Christmas Story can go rot in fucking hell. I fucking hate that movie. It's so goddamn annoying.

Lethal Weapon & L.A. Confidential are my favorite non-traditional Christmas movies.

Re: Essential holiday viewing at your house?

I try to watch Die Hard around Christmas. I'm glad many others around here feel the same way.

I always end up watching Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story a few times as well. To me, it's not Christmas without seeing bits and pieces of those two movies several times on the lead up to Christmas.

Re: Essential holiday viewing at your house?

When I was a teenager / young adult, I convinced my family of origin we should watch The Ref and Scrooged. We alternated between the two / created a double feature sometimes. I personally watched Die Hard a lot, too. I don't have any of them on blu ray or even DVD, save The Ref. They always seem too expensive, especially if I don't think about them until near Christmas when they're going to be more expensive, anyway. One of these days.

Die Hard and Gremlins are the only must-watch holiday films for me. Scrooged is a good one, too.

Home Alone. Will be having friends over for that one. Not a huge fan of Scrooged, but I will probably see Die Hard as well.
