Fun episode. Not a lot of LOL moments but still fun.

Was Haley even mentioned this episode?

I could watch a whole episode of Luke crashing bar mitzvahs. "He's in such a hurry, this one."

"Haley e-mails me pictures of her nails" or something like that, I'm pretty sure this was intended to be while she was still in college but it was a throw away line.

Thanks. I totally forgot that line.

The Phil thing was a little too much out of Three's Company, but his cluelessness always makes it work. I loved how after the kiss, it dawned on him slowly what had happened.

Also liked the final bit with Manny and the girl in the photo booth, with the pictures chronicling their brief relationship.

It was so simple, but my favorite moment of the show was the nursery painting reveal when Cam said "I'll have my friend Avilard (?) come back and paint over it." and Gloria said "... your friend Arrarrarr". I just rolled at that, especially since I was trying to figure out exactly WTF the guy's name is.

Pretty mediocre especially following last week's home run. It was good to see a nice moment between Jay and Mitchell in the car.

IMO, they missed the biggest LOL moment they could have had. Phil's realization at the exact moment he slips on the broken stair.

Also, I rewound it 3 times but still couldn't understand what Jay muttered to Mitchell after he told Cam he loved the painting. Anyone?

Have they ever established if Gloria has any siblings? I'd love a surprise visit from herr sister, played by Sandra Vergara.

Basically that the horrid painting will make it easier for him to be okay with losing the home office.

RocShemp got it - he said "Makes it easier to give up the room."

Good episode. There are always so many under the breath lines that are awesome and sometimes missed at first. Sometimes the jokes are subtle and come fast and furious and sometimes they're just hit you over the head and predictable - but still funny as hell (IE Phil's date).

I didn't really care for this one, just a bit too contrived and trivial and it didn't really bring the funny.

Mitch: "Well, she really set you up for that one."
Cam: "I know, I almost stopped breathing as soon as she said it."

Forgot about that one...one of my favorite lines of the episode! I think the Cam character is pretty great.

Thanks guys. Pretty solid line, it's a shame I missed it in context.

Since season one, Modern Family has been a modern-day Three's Company on many episodes--they often have the classic misunderstanding but that's what makes it so funny. They do a good job with it.

Matthew Broderick was a great cast for that role.

Agreed on both counts, but one of the other things that I love about Phil, besides his cluelessness, is how laid back he is about most things. He didn't freak out when he realized what had happened; it was just sort of this "huh, so that's what it was" reaction.

But I will also agree with others that this episode was a step down from the last few, even if it did have its moments.

I thought the name was Abelard.

Yeah, same here. It was just perfect.

I would love to see Phil's reaction to seeing Gloria's sister(s).

Hence the question mark.

I don't do well with a lot of the goofy names out there these days. Reminds me of this:

Considering the fact that Matthew Broderick has been accused of being gay, you'd think he'd stay away from roles like this. Unless... he really is gay.
