The Good Wife -- "Anatomy of a Joke" -- 11/11/12
Synopsis:
"Anatomy of a Joke" - Cary has an uneasy reunion with his father when he and Alicia travel to Washington, D.C., to advocate for a comedienne who is being sued by a television network for indecency. Meanwhile, a former client turns to Alicia for help, and Diane and Will question Clarke's latest strategy to help the firm out of debt, on THE GOOD WIFE, Sunday, Nov. 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Christina Ricci guest stars as comedienne Therese Dodd and John Shea guest stars as Nestor Agos, Cary's father. Bill Maher appears in a cameo as himself, Amanda Peet returns as Laura Hellinger and F. Murray Abraham returns as Burl Preston.

Interesting episode. Ricci's character was a bit odd as she seemed to have no sense of self preservation throughout most of the episode and her jokes weren't very funny.

Why didn't they a comedienne for that role? I really like Ricci (too bad this wasn't a cable show where she could really show her tits 
), but she's not good at standup.
Otherwise a pretty solid plot. I like the tension/animosity between Nathan Lane and Gardner/Lockhart.

Yes, but that doesn't really answer my question. No biggie, but in a perfect world I think she'd have been a much better (and funnier) choice.

Yeah, she wasn't funny. I don't know if I would have laughed at the same material delivered by someone else, though.
