Excellent episode. I feel like the show is actually developing some protagonists and a real storyline. The first few episodes were so scattershot.

The aversion/conversion therapy might have been the most disturbing thing they showed on this show, simply because it felt so real (and because that sort of thing is still going on today).
The guy who played Young James Cromwell was a remarkably close doppelganger.

Where did you find the younger version of James Cromwell?
That’s his son! When we were casting that part, James said, “Well you have to f—ing cast my son—he looks just like me.” He walked in and indeed he did. We cast him on the spot. You can’t beat the synchronicity and luck of that. James’ son looks exactly like him at that age. It was perfect.

After this episode, I really do not trust Dr. Thredson anymore.

Excellent hour - yay for Franka Potente!
Enjoyed the incorporation of the split-screen/split-personality motif here, very much in the style of Brian De Palma's Hitchcock 'homages'.
I thought Lana Banana going thru the electroshock therapy earlier was bad enough. The gay aversion/conversion therapy was hilarious, disturbing, and gut-wrenching at the same time. I've never seen any kind of portrayal of this type of treatment on tv before. Sarah Paulson rocked here and in that nifty dream sequence.
Poor Shelley - one minute a Brown Bunny BJ scene, the next minute a deformed mess in Arden's lab.
HAHAHA! I thought the show had done an awesome makeup job and found some random actor who was also tall and lanky with a slight resemblance to Mr. Cromwell. That is fun to know they hit the jackpot casting his own son for the flashback!

According to this article, it was his son.

Now they just need to fine a way to get Anne Frank in a tank top and have her run around the asylum for 20 minutes.

Next week is a make or break for me. The Anne Frank and alien angle just can't keep me too interested. I also cannot stand Jessica Lange. She is a supremely talented actress and is doing a superb job on this show. I just can't watch some of her scenes anymore.

This was another crazy episode.
The Nazi backstory on Arden was very interesting and Cromwell's son was a damn near clone of him. Loved how they incorporated "Anne Frank" into the mix.
The whole gay aversion therapy scene with Lana and Dr. Thredson was really disturbing.
and man, Poor Shelley, she's turned into one huge mess.
Yeah I can see how this show is either like it or hate it.

Finally an episode of this season that I liked. They cut down the on the quick cuts, the extraneous monsters and aliens and demons and actually focused the story line. Anne Frank is a weird character to bring in (assuming she's not actually crazy) but I'm giving it a chance. Love that they cast Cromwell's son... such a perfect choice.

Best episode of the season. The aversion scene was so hard to watch.
I really liked the fact that Kit finally may believe that he could commit those murders, and not be an alien abduction angle, and confesses so to Sister Jude but she won't hear any of it because she may have seen an alien on movie night.

Wow - this season has been pushing some boundaries. Love the weirdness!
Did I miss why Grace doesn't have the accent she had in ep 01? Maybe I missed the explanation....

Great episode! I really hope Anne Frank makes it through all this alive. Make it through the holocaust just to die in a mental institution. Yay for Anne Frank shooting a Nazi!
Not sure why Kit would not believe he's innocent, its hard to dismiss the robot neck chip.

You're right. My daughter and I were watching it and she said, "I thought she was French?" She then thought she was mistaken and assumed the French accent because of the song that was always playing in the Rec room.
