Thought this episode was pretty decent. Not sure if we need to use spoiler tags, but just to be sure:

Cool episode. Its seems this season is a lot more coherent than season one. I remember someone saying (it might have been me, even) that in the beginning of season one, the episodes felt like long "previously on..." segments in their disjointedness.
Digging this season so far. Surprised that they're killing quite a few folks pretty early.

Glad that they're continuing to have fun with this show. I love seeing that 'freaky fun horror' stuff in movies (and, in this case, TV).

Has there ever been an exorcism scene in a movie or show that doesn't almost completely ape the original movie "The Exorcist?" I would figure most people have never seen a real exorcism so wouldn't it be time for the writers to use a little imagination and show us something different?

I know this show is not everyone's cup of tea, but being in October, I love how dark and twisted this show gets.
Man, James Cromwell's character is one sick and twisted man.
I loved the little flashback to what happened with Sister Jude.
Unless they plan to show Adam Levine's corpse the rest of the season in the present day, I guess he's done and now back to working on The Voice.
and holy crap, those Exorcism scenes were great. Almost as good as some stuff done in feature films.

Finally some bare female ass on this show...unfortunately it was right next to bare male ass. Kinda killed the moment.

the 5.1 soundmix for this episode was amazing - during the breakout scene and when the sister is awakened by Cromwell's character and talks about 'the creatures' the bass kicks in

Solid episode, but a one-shot story about exorcism isn't that hard to pull off. I was hoping to see a new angle or spin on the concept, but it was fairly routine for dedicated horror fans.
The one change I would have made to it would have been to cast a young actress for the Sister Jude flashback. I'm sorry, I simply didn't buy Jessica Lange as 25 years younger in the flashback sequence.

It's cool this episode worked for so many. I thought it was a fine episode (with some really great acting), but something about this season is off for me. I think the problem I'm having is the asylum is so stereotypically horrific. The asylum feels very on the nose to me, and is incredibly evocative of every asylum I've seen in horror movies in the past. I wish it didn't look like it was designed by Captain Halloween, and instead was a bit more sterile, just to provide a contrast to the horrific things that are happening there.
