Yes, I know this doesn't premiere until tomorrow night. But I wanted to give you an early headsup on a potential issue.
FYI, if you record this show, delete your old American Horror Story season passes. The show is now called "American Horror Story: Asylum" So you will need to do a new search for it. The old pass no longer works.
And yes, if you did not watch season 1, you can jump in. It's an entirely new show, new characters and new story arc. The season 1 story arc was wrapped.

Cool promo videos. Didn't realize this was going to be back on already.
Last year's episodes were pretty great. Creepy, fun, and it always took me a little while to readjust after watching. The goofy dread and horror left me a bit creeped out after watching each episode.
I still really want to see the two seasons link up somehow, and turn into something epic. Only thing that I can see coming is the demon child part.

Such a uniquely entertaining show (yeah it's derivative as hell, but there's nothing else quite like it on TV). Hope this season is as much fun as the first.

As a huge fan of all things nylons/stockings this show is awesome in that respect!
But besides that, the first season was really great. I love horror so this was right up my alley and did not disappoint.
Hopefully season 2 is as good!

Do I need to watch the first season to watch this season ?
With everything everyone watches in this house, I wasn't able to even DVR the show.
Going by reviews and hype I figured I would give it a shot.

It's standalone, so no, you don't need to see Season 1 before jumping into Season 2.

Feel like a noob not seeing that in the first post even though I thought I read it all ...
Good to know, so I can finally see what all the talk is about.

I've checked my dvr like 5 times already to make sure that it's all set to record this one.
I am excited! I loved the first season.

That totally surprised me as well. No idea that was gonna be part of the storyline. Great use of Carrie's soundtrack. What were the other music cues?

Lily Rabe
Last season worked towards a Beetlejuice-type finale, and after tonite I am looking forward to another fun and campy season.

Great start to the season. This looks like it is going to be a fun ride, just like last year.
I thought it would take some getting used to seeing the same actors from season 1 in different roles, but it didn't at all. I guess when you have a great returning cast these things just take care of themselves.

Strong opener -- more so than last season. Curious to see how far they delve into the
Love that they retained so many cast members and created different roles for them. From this episode, I predict Jessica Lange has another Emmy in her future.

Pretty good start, looking forward to how this progresses, though I'm not so sure this is a stand alone season. You may not need to know all about season 1 to enjoy this season, but I suspect that these are not new roles for the same cast members. I think they are the same characters from season 1, but shown in a sorta prequel fashion. I wouldn't be surprised to see some connections being made. We shall see.

They ARE NOT the same characters. At all. This isn't a prequel.
