Coma -- 2 night miniseries from Ridley and Tony Scott -- 9/3 & 9/4 on A&E
A&E Network presents "Coma," a four-hour epic two-night event from Ridley and Tony Scott featuring a multiple Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning cast with Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under"), Steven Pasquale ("Rescue Me"), Geena Davis, James Woods, Ellen Burstyn and Richard Dreyfuss. "Coma," a modern day retelling of the bestselling novel by Robin Cook and based on the film by Michael Crichton, premieres on Labor Day, Monday, September 3 and concludes on Tuesday, September 4, airing at 9PM ET/PT on both nights. "Coma" also stars James Rebhorn ("Law & Order," "White Collar"), Joe Morton ("The Good Wife"), Michael Weston ("House") and Joseph Mazello ("The Pacific," "The Social Network"). Emmy Award winner Mikael Salomon ("Band of Brothers") directs the John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan) penned script. From the team behind A&E's Emmy-nominated miniseries "The Andromeda Strain," and the hit drama series "The Good Wife," "Coma" is a thriller about a young doctor (Lauren Ambrose) who discovers that something sinister is going on in her hospital after routine procedures send more than a few seemingly healthy patients into comas on the operating table.

Looks interesting. Have already set DVR to record both parts.

Very cool! I liked the original, so I'll be interested to see how this compares.

I thought it was okay.
I'm looking forward to the conclusion.

The 1st hour was a little slow, but it did get more interesting in the 2nd hour.
It's kind of weird seeing Steven Pasquale playing a semi-serious character compared to the goofball Garrity that he played on Rescue Me.
That giant storage room with all the Coma patients was kind of cool.
Hopefully it finishes strong tonight. I trust that Ridley and Tony Scott saw something interesting in the script to associate their names with this project.

Also, the community rating on avclub was A-.
Then again, avclub also rates Jersey Shore as a C.

Finished the last 2 hours and honestly the ending was a big WTF???
So Richard Dreyfuss was using the Coma patients to harvest human organs?
And it ends with Geena Davis' character taking the operation to China?
If you recorded this and absolutely need to kill 4 hours, then I guess it's sort of watchable. But I thought this was one of Ridley and Tony Scott's worst projects that they have their names associated with.
They should have just tightened the script up and made it a 2 hour TV movie of the week. Alot of the movie dragged.

I was very disappointed that they lifted so many scenes/shots directly from the original movie.

I quit after the first hour of the first part. Man, that was really bad.

I quit after watching the first hour and fastforwarding through the second hour at 8x speed. Except for the recent Hatfields & McCoys on History, I haven't seen a great mini-series in the last decade. Any great script is going to be turned into a theatrical feature in this marketplace, so we get stuck with re-treads and boring premises.

The 2nd part of this thing was utterly atrocious. And as you say this is doubly disappointing given that it's coming from the Scotts who, up till now, could do no wrong in my book. WTF were they thinking getting involved with this garbage?
