Most places won't take orders, only place I found was www.dvdshelf.com, with a 3-4 day wait. But it costs £30 shipped to UK! Anywhere cheaper?????

Essexboy,
Sure, if you order just CTHD from DVDShelf it will cost you 30 quid shipped, however, if you are at all interested in Asian cinema in general, you can work the shipping costs to your advantage.
DVDShelf charges the same for shipping ($HK135) regardless of whether you order one DVD or five DVDs (the next tier starts at six DVDs). What I did was order CTHD plus four Japanese films and the overall cost worked out at around $18 Australian each including shipping. And they use courier, so the delivery is trackable and fast (mine shipped on the Friday and arrived on my desk in Sydney on the Monday).
I know you end up spending more, but hell... you feel that much better when you look at the cost per DVD
Some suggestions (based on what I bought) are:
Gohatto (Taboo)- Director Osamu's first film since Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence (about a gay samurai)
Gonin - starring Kitano "beat" Takeshi
Marco - an animation by Haiyao Miyazaki of Princesss Mononoke fame
Space Travelers - starring Kanashiro Takeshi from the HK film Sleepless Town (another film worth getting)
They also have a lot of other interesting Japanese and HK titles. And no, I don't work for them
Hope this in some way helps you.
regards, Tim...

Try these guys.
www.movietyme.com
They are in Great Britain. Halfway down the front page in the middle.
Did not look today before suggesting it, looks like they are out of stock and it is Region 3. Hope this is some help.

Most places are running out of the DVD copies very fast, and from what I've been told there is no known date for a refill!
DDDHouse still has the VCD though. I reccomend the VCD, it doesn't look like any VCD I've ever seen, the picture is so clear and there is no pixelization like you would expect.

What's up with GETVCDS.com???
I ordered my CTHD DVD because of the recommendations
in this group. I made my order on 2/9/01 and received
an email confirmation. Great. Today is 2/22/01 and I still
have NOT received anything from them(!) I sent an email
yesterday inquirying about my order but they have not
replied to it. What's up with that?

I have a "extra" Region3 of this DVD. I'm looking to trade it, or possible sell it if any of you are interested.
Go ahead and email me is you want. It's a great DVD!

I bought mine from getvcds. Ordered on Sunday, arrived in Atlanta on Tuesday morning. I bought 3 for $56 and sold 2 on ebay for $75. So - shipping factored in and all - I made almost $20 and got my copy "free".

For those that haven't been tracking the R0 Threads over in the "DVD Talk" Forum, this version has been proven to be a legit copy Columbia Tri-Star did release.
If you ordered from GetVCDs and have not received your copy yet you may have been put on a "back order" list. They were out of stock for a while but are back in stock now.
If you want to check out the main Thread over at the "DVD Talk" Forum, here is the link:
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Region 0)
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...threadid=84187
That is a long thread but a fun read.
If you just want to check out the article that discusses the legitimacy of this release (R0) check out this link:
Article from the Oakland Tribune

If you have any trouble getting to the exact page through the above link try the main site:
http://buzz.insidebayarea.com
Then follow their "Bay Area Living" Link (left) then use the "Film" link under "Arts and Entertainment".
Enjoy!

Just a update of the "Region 3" version of this if anyone's interested:
"No More English Subs On Crouching Tiger DVD
ERA, the Hong Kong distributer of the DVD, have informed me that the new pressing of the Region 3 DVD of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will not have English subtitles or the English dub track. Due to the mass exportation of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon DVD outside of Region 3, Columbia/Tristar felt it necessary to reauthor the DVD and remove both the English subtitles and the English dub track. "
