For some reason, my fiancee is dying to see this. Reviews seem atrocious. I might go for the unintentional comedy.

yup...

and I'm going to see this tonight with a friend who has a Bradley Cooper 'thang' - ugh, the crap films I have to endure. Thankfully I've been spared from seeing 'Hit and Run' - you couldn't pay me to see that dreck.

I haven't read anything about it but I'm intrigued by the trailers, mainly because Jeremy Irons is in it.

I think Hit and Run was a "doing favors for friends" type of movie for Cooper (the $2m budget and fairly recognizable cast suggests that). Same goes for this movie (actor buddy as writer/director, $6m budget with a recognizable cast. Movie was sold to CBS Films for $2m). Not an excuse for subpar movies, but puts it into perspective a little.

Kind of surprised he only made $5m off The Hangover Part II, figured the sequel would be the huge paycheck (still a massive payday compared to The Hangover, which he got $600,000 for).

That's how I saw it as well. Just a bunch of friends making a movie in their spare time, who had a few million to blow. I don't think they were expecting it to be an Oscar winner.

Actually a trailer that doesn't tell you anything should be considered a good thing. Most of them give away the entire film.

The trailer sucked but I actually liked this, despite it being pretty predictable.

it was definitely predictable and also really really smaltzy and trite - the soundtrack never stopped and all the kissing and hugging and crap just got grating after awhile. Quaid's narration was like fingernails on a blackboard (oh for the love of god - please shut up).
