I LOVED dirty sexy money so I am totally looking forward to this. Sigourney Weaver looks great in this and the cast is very strong. Sunday is very packed!

I know USA is calling it a Limited Series i'm curious if indeed it gets good ratings, if USA will continue it or does it have an ending

Not sure if they'll be able to keep someone like Sigourney Weaver for a series bit (not to mention the other actors). Not talking money, just scheduling and the time commitment necessary for a weekly series.

re: Political Animals -- New Series with Sigourney Weaver -- 7/15/12

Hmmmmm let's see what we have here:

A womanizing, but very popular democratic ex-president, whose wife becomes Secretary Of State after losing in the primary.

I guess they aren't trying to be too coy with who they're basing the characters on. Of course I'd vote for Sigorney Weaver before I'd ever vote for Hilary.

The guy they have playing Bill...I mean Bud, I just don't buy him in the role. He's a fine actor, and he delivers his lines pretty well, but he just doesn't look like an American president. He looks like a French President or a Russian gangster. Like I said, I think he's a fine actor, just miscast.

Nice to see Nathan Petrelli back in the White House. Maybe he'll fly in the the final episode.

Overall, it's a great cast. I enjoy USA's other shows, it's the only network where I can say I watch all of their original programming. But this one clearly stands out in terms of its cast and storytelling. It's a change of pace for USA, and I think it works really well.

I'm guessing they're looking at this like they looked at The Starter Wife a few years back. Should this limited run do well, they might be more inclined to try and get the cast and crew to stick around for more than just the 6 episodes.

They really didn't try too hard to avoid any comparisons, did they?

I'd vote for Kodos before I'd vote for Hillary.

re: Political Animals -- New Series with Sigourney Weaver -- 7/15/12

It does remind me some of Dirty Sexy Money. Not bad. It would be good if it's a series and leads up to an unorthodox primary challenge against a sitting Prez. The ex-Prez and mother crack me up. Good eye candy too.

But I had to when they had to put a "Washington D.C." underneath a wide shot of the Mall/Wash Monument/Capitol. I guess they think the typical USA Network viewer needs that help.

Overall I really enjoyed the pilot even if it did loose its footing slightly in the second act (but definitely recovered in the third), but it feels a little to "brothers and sisters" meets "dirty sexy money" to really stand out.

With a 0.5 Rating on the pilot I doubt this will go beyond these 6-episodes.

Stepping aside from the show and just making an observation on some of the comments, while I must bite my tongue in saying this, we may have gotten lucky to have gotten Obama over Hillary. I fear she is much more dangerous. I equate her to Cersei, Hillary knows how to play the Game of Thrones a lot better than the boy President. Now McCain would have been a disaster, not so much for what he would have done but what he wouldn't have done and the fact that he would have single handedly set back the Republican Party by a decade and we don't need a 1 Party nation.

This. Not to mention he had exactly zero chemistry with Sigourney Weaver. She is a great actress, but even she could not sell that supposedly passionate kiss between them, which just looked extremely awkward.

Given the fine cast, couldn't they have sprung for someone a little more decent for the ex-Prez? Someone charismatic like John Slattery could have killed in this role. At least so we understood why she stayed with him for so long and why he was such a popular President.

I agree that the ex-Prez is over-the-top and cartoonish, but he cracks me up.

I watched the pilot yesterday and I liked it for the most part. I think this will probably remain a mini-series because of the weak ratings.

I like political dramas like this so I am in for the rest of the episodes. Sigourney Weaver is killing it as Elaine Barrish Hammond. I hope she gets nominated for best actress in a miniseries!

Spoiler:

Is anyone here caught up with this? Or is this still in the unwatched pile because of Breaking Bad and other Sunday shows? Tonight is most likely the last episode of the series.

I also got caught up on this show today before the finale. The first couple of episodes weren't great, but the show improved over time. I hope this will continue.

I read that the ratings are not that great.
Spoiler:
plus, one of the main characters took on a new role in a show on HBO. It's probably not coming back.
. I really like this show and all the actors in it.
