That's funny that you didn't like the first two but loved this one, because I had the opposite reaction. It wasn't bad, just underwhelming. I saw the punchline coming a mile away and that's not usually what you get with the show. It would have been a solid segment but wasn't sustainable for a whole episode.
And wow, Louie got huge.

Louie has really jumped the shark this season. All the episodes so far are totally one note. The complexity and sophistication of last season is totally gone. At this rate, they should just end the show mid-season.

The joke at the end about hetero males was the same he used during his online comedy show.
Funny how after he went to the beach and saw all those fit people he returned to his hotel room and ate a big burger on his bed.
Hope Louie got some Miami tail with those chicks in bikinis for doing this show.

I always felt they exaggerated Louie's weight in the past. And the first 2 episodes this season he looked no different than before. But in this episode he looks like he packed on 25+ pounds - even when he had his shirt on he looked large.
It was a very meh episode.
I got annoyed when Louie couldn't just say "I'm not gay" and that broken conversation went back and forth for so long.
I prefer seeing Louie in NY. There's something amazing about seeing Louie in a city so large yet there never seems to be many people around - which makes Louie look extra lonely.

I also think the first three episodes haven't approached season 1 or 2 quality, but if it gets to the point where I get no enjoyment from the show, I'll just stop watching. No reason to cancel just because you don't like it.

Louie will stay on the air as long as Louis CK wants to keep doing it. It's dirt cheap to produce and it helps that he writes, directs and edits all the episodes by himself.
This episode got 1.1M viewers and 0.5 in the demos, which is awesome considering the cost of this show.

I read similar reviews here for the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm but then the season set came out and it was as good as previous seasons so I'm still hoping they'll finish the season if no one minds.

Loved the beach scenes where he goes back in and comes back out near sundown with all of the other large, older guys.
And, yeah, compared to season 1, Louie has gained a ton. Just look at the opening credits of him coming up the subway steps before this seasons episodes start. Major difference.
That was neat.

It was pretty weird, but I enjoyed it.
I still think episode 2 with Melissa Leo in the truck is the best so far.
