Well shit, if they were trying to make her look like the cartoon...they fucking nailed it.

Between now and 2014 a bunch of other shit that I care a hell of a lot more about will come out. Way to promote a movie that is a long ways off.

Also, I am getting kind of tired of these big fantasy epics being given to novice/first time directors (like Snow White and the Huntsman). I feel that a director needs to do something, even a small movie, before being given the keys to something big budget. I don't care for what I am seeing from the new Spider-Man, but at least Marc Webb had shown he could competently direct a feature film before they gave him a project that looks over his head. The Wachowski Brothers wanted to make Matrix as their directoral debut, but had to make Bound first just to show they were capable of helming a movie. Make something like Blair Witch Project, but give yourself some credibility as opposed to looking like someone who just kissed that right amount of ass and got the job.

Looks like it is. I can see the edge of the appliance.
Actually, depending on the project, it's more efficient to just do it on the computer as opposed to an actual application. My background is in FX make-up, so these things stand out as sore thumbs sometimes.
The pictures of her walking in the field are clearly appliances, so I'm assuming they will augment her face further with digital effects and whatnot.

Regarding the on-set pics... it looks like she has the cheekbone make-up on.
2014? I assumed this was next year...that's a bummer, and worrisome that they intend to add so much fx to it.
Edit: It's a good thing they released the official pic that they did (same with Catwoman the morning they started shooting). At least they've learned that much...

Better than a director taking a paycheck job and not really caring imo, we have too many of those as it is. (you really think Mangold's going to bring anything unique to The Wolverine?) Snow White was a very impressive first film - he gave the best presentation to the studio and he got the gig, that's the way it should work imo.

Mangold is a good director when he's not doing it for the paycheck like Knight and Day. Is he writing or co-writing The Wolverine as well? If so, then expect him to rock it. If not, then it's in the air, but to generalizie like that is not fair.

My point was in response to the assertion that a first-time director isn't deserving of a major film. Mangold's done some solid work, in many ways if I directed I would have a similar style. But unfortunately I don't hold out any hope for Wolverine other than being competently directed...and Jackman to be ripped. I'd love to be proven wrong...Fox started showing a pulse last year with First Class and POTA.
