'Green Acres' actor Frank Cady dies at age 96.
He played Hooterville general-store proprietor Sam Drucker on Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.
Character actor Frank Cady died Friday at his home in Wilsonville, Ore., his daughter, Catherine Turk, tells the Los Angeles Times. He was 96. A cause of death wasn't released, reports AP.
Cady played Drucker for the entire run of Green Acres on CBS, from 1965 to 1971, when it was canceled. He also portrayed Drucker on Petticoat Junction and The Beverly Hillbillies, programs that shared some secondary characters. He played Drucker again in the 1990 TV movie Return to Green Acres.
He and his wife, Shirley, moved to Oregon in the 1990s. She died in 2008.
I was a huge fan of all three shows growing. RIP

Definately one of the "I didn't realise he was still alive" brigade.
Like Charles Lane he seemed to spend his entire career looking about sixty years old. Good on him for living such a long life and for that unique acheivement of playing the same character on three television series all running at the same time (Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction.)

Sam Drucker was a great character maybe the only semi normal one on Green Acres. He was also in Ace in the Hole and When Worlds Collide and a small part in Rear Window. The man worked for Billy Wilder and Alfred Hitchcock. R.I.P. Frank.

+1 Green Acres was always somewhat wacky for the sake of wacky for my taste but Sam Drucker rocked. Both the character and the actors performance.
In retrospect I really would have liked to seen what Cady could have done with his own series.

I remember being surprised to see him in TV commercials, playing a shopkeeper, promoting Fit & Trim dog food, back in the late 70's/early 80's.
Still surviving from the Green Acres cast is Mary Grace Canfield, who played carpenter Ralph Monroe, and Tom Lester who was the Douglas's farmhand Eb.

RIP He was great on those 3 shows...he did seem to be the most 'normal' resident of Hooterville. I also liked him on radio too (Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel and Fort Laramie).

It's hard to believe he lived another 40 plus years after the shows ended in 1971. Like most of you have already said, he looked old to me when I was a kid. I always felt sorry for poor Sam. He seemed like the only sane one on all three shows. I'm glad he got to lived a long life. RIP
