OutKast's André 3000 is about to elevate his long-time film dabbling to a new level. The Irish Film & Television Network (via Entertainment Weekly) reports that his starring role in a long-brewing Jimi Hendrix biopic has been solidified. The film, titled All Is By My Side, will begin shooting in Ireland in three weeks.
Written by John Ridley (Three Kings, U-Turn), the film allegedly chronicles the period during which Hendrix wrote and recorded his debut album Are You Experienced in England in 1966 and 1967. No word yet about co-stars or planned release dates, but the film's slotted for a six-week production period.

He's black and kind of looks like Jimi I guess and at the very least he's a musician. Sounds good to me. I like his facial hair in those Gillette commercials.

I like how the name of the picture is "Andre_3000_Looks_Exactly_Like_Jimi_Hendrix_Leaked_Biopic_Set_Photos".

That's what I was thinking of. If they won't license his songs to films with drugs then you can't make a film about Hendrix (a drug addict) and still have his music in the film. Maybe the estate and the filmmakers worked something out.
