Alaric
Now we have evil super vampire Alaric. Even though Esther is dead, it looked like her spirit or essence compelled Bonnie to complete the ritual.
That whole candlelight goodbye to Alaric's old self was pretty cheesy though.
Just in case your wondering about Alaric's future on the show:

Ugh
This show kills to many people. It's getting a bit silly that "no one is safe". Kill some useless people like Matt and Bonnie.

I feel like Klaus has become Spike from Buffy. A cool kickass character that really shook things up. Then the writers fell in love with them/the actor, and everything went downhill.
As solid as this show has been, a lot of things have either felt off or really haven't worked out well:
- Ripper. Nope.
- Alaric as bad guy - could have been really interesting actually.
- Elena and Damon - not really working for me
- Jeremey was sent off, and then he comes back into the fold in a blink? It's as if they didn't even address his missing memories. They wrote him back in as if nothing had happened.
- Likewise, Tyler comes back and nothing changes! What was the point of having him go away?
I really hope things get shaken up in the last two episodes. This show needs to find it's S1/S2 self.

That storyline with Klaus and the "Ripper" needs to be completely eliminated. It rings hollow, as we all know that Stefan is going to get back with Elena. And Klaus is not Spike, Damon is Spike on this show. Klaus is just a bad actor that has overstayed his welcome at this point.
