This was actually a pretty compelling episode. I liked it alot.
Season 2 has been very uneven. This was IMO one of the better episodes and surprisingly it wasn't a Steve/Danno centered episode.
For someone who was mostly a cliched & insignificant quirky character, I thought they did a good job with Max's storyline in this episode. Some interesting stuff with his backstory. At least they explained why he has a Jewish last name.
Was a little surprised the church caretaker was the killer. Everything pointed to the assistant.
Nice job by Max shanking the guy at the end.
and at least Alex O'Loughlin was nice enough to appear in a 1 minute cameo during his drug rehab.

The Shrimp truck story was more for comic relief. I don't think we were supposed to think too hard about it.

Whoever said this show was sci fi without the sci fi was right - it exists in its own world, which is similar to ours but has completely different rules. I'm not complaining - I like this show's approach, it's a lot of fun.

I like Max
even more so now that he freed himself, sat himself back into the chair like nothing happened and then stabbed the bad guy with a foot long piece of glass
