Lollipop Chainsaw: Ps3, Xbox 360 (6/12/12)
I'm honestly surprised there isn't a thread about this yet and thought I would start one. New upcoming title by Suda 51. Same guy who did Shadows of the Damned and No more heroes. Anyone else looking forward to this game?

I felt a little burnt by the positive reviews for Shadows of the Damned ...and No More Heroes is average at best....having a half-naked high school cheerleader bouncing around might have done something for me 20 years ago, but when you have daughters in high school it sort of takes the fun out of it...
I will wait till it is under 10 bucks, and only if it gets good reviews...

It's dropped to $44.99 at Amazon now. I just get the feeling this is exactly the sort of game that will totally tank. Like Rise of Nightmares and Shadow of the Damned, when you combine New IP + Quirky + Zombies + M-rated language and gore, you often get a game that is too niche for most people to want and not unique enough to carve out its own audience. I predict it to be $20 before October. We'll see soon enough..

Not only that, but Killer 7, Shadows and No More Heroes dropped pretty quickly too. It's a weird thing, getting older, I feel a bit like foxdvd. I think if it was a little less over the top in it's fanservice, it'd be more tolerable to me (of course, I thought Bayonetta had too much fanservice too, and it wasn't as over the top as this). Hopefully it's a good game, because I like Suda's games overall.
Interesting that Suda was apparently an undertaker before getting into the game industry...

This is out tomorrow. Any reviews?
My $44.95 Amazon preorder is already shipping soon, so it's too late for me. Hope it doesn't stink.

Report: Lollipop Chainsaw 4 hours long
Posted: 11.06.2012 17:33 by JonahFalcon Comments: 0
According to Polish gaming site PlayStation Players Society, Grasshopper's manic third person beat'em up Lollipop Chainsaw will only be four hours long, shockingly short for a full priced retail release.
According to the site, "On Friday, the Polish shops will Grasshooper Manufacture latest production - Lollipop Chainsaw. Since that I am a fan of their previous game Shadows of the Damned, the nicierpliwością waiting for their new work. As reported by my friends who already have the game, you can go in 4 hours! Disappointing, but including two endings, a few costumes and trophies to unlock certainly spend more time with this title. Review on our website soon."
Lollipop Chainsaw is due to be released tomorrow on the 12th June in North America and the 15th June in Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Polish gaming sites getting the scoop now? Wasn't this already released in Japan, how did this not come up before?

I saw an ad for this and thought it was a parody of a videogame rather than an actual product. With 4 hours gameplay and decent reviews, mebbe I'll see if I can RedBox it.

It seems way to niche a game for Redbox to stock, unfortunately. They tend to only stock the most popular of game titles (you know, like the first disc of Max Payne 3).
It might be a fun rental, but if Redbox doesn't carry it, my only choice would be to join Gamefly since the last Blockbuster stores in town just closed up.

I've had my eye on this one for a while. I'm hoping my local Family Video carries it tomorrow. If not I'll put it on my watch list and pick it up used when it hits 20 bucks. A four hour campaign is way to short to buy.

4 hours will probably still last me a month. Still have Max to beat.

Joystiq's review is now up. They call it "mediocre" and describe the combat as a chore. No mention of the total game length as far as I could see.

Kotaku gave it a good review, and said 7 hours to beat. Playing it now, and the controls feel fine, very fluid. Its ridiculous and over the top fun. I was hooked when Hey Mickey started playing when you trigger a super

Got it at Family Video this morning. Checkout lady said she loved it which is a good sign (they got it in a few days early and she took it home, nice perks). She knows me as I rent a lot of games there and her and I see eye to eye on a lot of games. Going to fire it up tonight after the kiddo goes to bed and see what happens.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw: Ps3, Xbox 360 (6/12/12)
It does in fact get very repetitive. I started it and "finished" it today. (There's a lot of replay for leaderboards and leveling up abilities and all that junk if you're into that sort of stuff. I'm not so much.) Not sure my total play time, but I'd guess 5 hours or so.
Gameplay is way iffy-agrivating in some spots, and a few set things you have to do in a few levels got super annoying due to mechanics issues, but overall it was the over the top Suda 51 crazy shit that I was looking for. (Although I could've used a little less of the cheesecake sex stuff.) The Nick character stole the show for me and I'm glad they had him in there to bounce around dialogue. The boss battles/characters are easily the highlight of the game design. Everyone of them I found hilarious and enjoyable, even if pretty pedestrian gameplay wise.
In the end I enjoyed Shadows of the Damned much more overall.

Shame it's not a Redbox title, since I'd like to give it a rent, but would never want to actually buy the game.
Ah well, at least they still have plenty of copies of Madagascar 3 for the Wii to rent
