Must have been an armor piercing bullet. Thanks for the heads up, now I know which game to avoid.

Why would you avoid it because of that? They're are a million reasons to avoid a game but you think that is valid?

It may be I guess but I haven't come across a game yet that was 100% authentic.

It looks pretty cool to me. That doesn't mean it's gonna be a good game.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Realism is important to me. Especially in a game which is being touted as brutally realistic.
Looking at a Kill cam montage video I see an awful lot of shooting hotspots on vehicles causing them to explode Michael Bay style.

Don't get me wrong, I was initially excited, WWII sniper game? Cool! But it's not WWII sniper game, it's a Covert Operative game set in WWII. Silencers? Trip mines? No spotter, your just a lone wolf behind the lines?

Not for me.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

glad you mentioned his game last night. Something a bit different though I'd like to see more. Like the slo-mo and the "CSI" effect of the bullet. We'll see what the story turns out to be and what else it has to offer but does look pretty cool.

BTW : The guy who made that impressive shot also cut together a montage from the demo that's fairly awesome (and includes said shot). Here it is:

The game has 3 different coop modes....and on top of that the entire campaign can be played 2 person coop.

First review I've seen brings up a lot of the AI issues:

Looks really cool but I will probably hold off until it hits rock bottom pricing.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

I picked this up in a moment of weakness. I needed something to hold me over till Diablo hits. I am about 1/3rd of the way through, and it is fun. So far I have not been blown away, but I am happy I picked it up.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Well I am 3 chapters away from finishing my second run of this game...this time on the highest difficulty...

I have to say, this game is a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be. It really is brilliant at times, though the lower budget does show itself here and there. If you are looking for a different kind of shooter, give it a try.

The PC game is $14.99 (70% off) through today via Amazon Direct Download and is Steam-activated. I picked it up at that price now though it may go to that price some time during the current Steam Summer sale

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Just finished the single player campaign. The sniping was extremely fun. Everything else was pretty mediocre and low budget. Definitely worth a rental.

Now that I'm familiar with the levels, I might play through again. I have a feeling this game might be more enjoyable the 2nd time around. Once you know the enemy locations, you can plan out more sniping and avoid close-range encounters.

Has anyone played either of the two DLC missions? I'm kinda reluctant to pay $5/$10 for each one.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

I found this game incredibly frustrating. I wanted to play it right: taking my time, scanning areas with the binoculars, crawling and sneaking, using the rock to distract guards, etc. Unfortunately I wasn't able to play it that way, at least to where I found it enjoyable.

I can't believe the difficulty level from "normal" and higher. If you miss a shot, the infantry is on top of you in seconds and you're dead. The Thompson you carry is worthless. If you get into a fire fight, you're fucked.

Also, I would scan areas with my rifle or the binoculars, determine that the area was clear to move ahead and as soon as I reveal myself I get sniped by some magical enemy who wasn't there before.

In the end I just said fuck it and turned the difficulty level to easy and killed everyone I came across, no attempts at stealth. The sniping effects were pretty cool.

I beat it and have no interest in playing it again. Thankfully I borrowed this from my brother in law instead of wasting money on a rental or purchase.

Re: Sniper Elite V2 Xbox 360/PS3/PC

If you use the Wii U like a scope, that might be kind of cool, I suppose. Still, I wonder who they're marketing to since any hardcore gamer who really wanted this game probably either got it 6 months ago or picked it up on sale since.
