In Plain Sight -- The Final Season Thread -- Fridays (USA)
By djariya at 2012-03-16
Synopsis for "The Anti-Social Network"
Spoiler:
8 episode final season
I'm just going to do 1 thread for the entire season, especially since it's so short and alot of USA shows like this don't really have alot of discussion.

I love Mary McCormack and have liked this show through it's entire run. Hope it ends strong.
BTW, she already signed on for a network Pilot for next season

Mary McCormack got pregnant last season and it was written into the show.
Last season had a major arc about the pregnancy. The father is Mary's ex husband, who she had a 1 night stand with.
Marshall is dating an Albuquerque PD detective (played by Rachel Boston)
Mary's ex boyfriend Raphael left the show for good after season 3 after she broke off their engagement.
Brandi was dating a car dealer for most of the last 2 seasons, but broke things off during last season's finale on their wedding day. She's no longer part of the show.
There, your caught up.

I thought it was a good episode.
Last season ended on a cliffhanger and I'm glad they jumped forward 6 months instead of picking up where it left off.
The case of the week was not really that interesting. It was pretty obvious that Tippy was dirty. I enjoyed more of the character aspect of it with Mary returning to work, dealing with the new baby and reuniting with Marshall.
I really liked the flashbacks that showed Mary not having a motherly bone in her body and struggling dealing with the crying baby.
Not really going to miss Brandi or Jinx. Jinx I liked in small doses, but Brandi was really annoying and mostly useless.

The girl who played Brandi is completely off the show?
Must still be taking parenting classes after her child got taken away.

For me the show has slowly declined in quality each season. I was considering dropping the show but I can stick it out for 8 eps.

Season 2 was a little inconsistent. But, season 3 they got a new showrunner and pulled off a pretty solid season even though he got sick and was forced to quit the show.
Last season, they had the challenge of writing in Mary's real-life pregnancy and they pulled it off with alot of humor incorporated. Honestly, there was really no way they could pull off hiding Mary's pregnancy considering she's a pretty voluptuous woman. This show is a character-driven procedural carried by Mary's snarkiness and her banter with Marshall.
Even though the season is short, I'm glad they got a 5th season to wrap things up.

These last episodes should be interesting. I'm expecting them to be more character driven and less about the wit sec person of the week by the looks of how this episode went which would be fine by me to wrap the show.

Wow, Stan really batted out of his league this ep. Tia Carrere looked fantastic.
I wonder if the series will end up with the ABQ office closed, and everyone going their own way.

Go Stan!
Talk about getting someone way way out of his league.
Tia looks great. Guess her work on Dancing with the Stars a few years ago paid off.
As for the case of the week, the Bigamist got what he deserved.
Happy to see Marshall and Abby engaged. I know there's some fans who want Mary and Marshall together at the end, but IMO they aren't compatible at all romantically. They have a very brother-sister like bond.
and drats, too bad Mary shot down the hot potential nanny.

Marshall in drag had me
While it's always cool to see Stephen Lang, introducing Mary's father means we'll probably be seeing Mary's sister and Mom again. Blurgh.
