King's X drummer, Foreigner guitarist hit with heart problems

The King's situation is much worse.

----------

Jerry Gaskill, drummer for legendary rockers KING'S X, suffered a heart attack Sunday, February 26, and was rushed to the hospital. After undergoing an emergency operation, Jerry was placed in intensive care (where he currently remains).

According to a posting on KING'S X's official Facebook page, "[Jerry] has been on a ventilator since [he suffered the heart attack]. However, there are some positive signs concerning his recovery."

In light of Jerry's sudden hospitalization, all previously announced North American tour dates for KING'S X have been cancelled. Jerry will be taking the time to recover back to full health so that he can hopefully join the band behind the drums at some point in the future.

KING'S X was scheduled to launch a three-week tour on March 28 in Austin.

Gaskill and Doug Pinnick have been playing together since 1979, when they met in Springfield, Missouri.

KING'S X is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its self-titled Atlantic debut this year.

KING'S X's 2008 album, "XV", sold 4,450 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 145 on the Billboard 200 chart. This marked the first time in over a decade that the band had cracked the Top 200 in the first week of release.

KING'S X's "Gretchen Goes To London: Live At The Astoria 5.6.90" DVD was released in November 2008 via Molken Music. The set documents the historic show at the Astoria Theatre in 1990 and includes never-before-seen footage. The DVD was produced by Wally Farkas and has a running time of 64 minutes.

-------------

Foreigner founder Mick Jones is recovering well after aortoiliac bypass surgery in Miami. Sources tell us the rocker is “already up and walking around” after undergoing the operation at Mount Sinai Hospital this week. The procedure involves using a shunt to unite the aorta and iliac artery to relieve obstruction. A spy said Jones “is doing great and can’t wait to get back onstage.” At his side is ex-wife and close friend Ann Dexter-Jones and her daughter, Charlotte Ronson.

Love King's X. Sad to hear about Jerry's health, hoping for a quick and full recovery.

Praying that Jerry makes a full recovery. King's X is one of the greatest bands out there.

I haven't listened to King's X since the mid-90s, but I still vividly recall seeing them open for Scorpions @ Irvine Meadows in '92 or '93. I recall them being a solid act. I owned that album that had a dog on the cover.

News on Jerry:

Jerry Gaskill, drummer for legendary rockers KING'S X, suffered a heart attack February 26, and was rushed to the hospital where he underwent an emergency operation.

In a new Facebook posting, KING'S X frontman Doug Pinnick states about Gaskill's current condition, "Saw Jerry and he smiled and gave the thumbs up. He seemed to recognize everyone and seems on it. Really cool. He is having some difficulty with the breathing, but overall looks sharp. Feel much better about this. Very excited. Just want to share that with you guys. Julie [Jerry's fiancée] is amazing."

To help Gaskill pay his medical bills, KING'S X is offering a special MP3 download-only title, "Burning Down Boston: Live at The Channel 6.12.91". This release was edited and mastered from a stereo FOH (front-of-house) recording. While the audio is far from perfect sonically, the performance documents yet another magical night on tour while supporting the "Faith Hope Love" album. The band expands many of the cuts featured here, including performances that are blistering ("Moanjam"), heavy and funk-laden ("We Are Finding Who We Are"), beautiful ("The Burning Down"), and truly transcendental ("Over My Head"). A few songs from the show were omitted due to tape damage. However, three bonus tracks have been included (an additional 15 minutes) from the same show that were not presented in the main track listing.

In addition to the gift with this download, anyone who wants to further make a personal gift to Jerry to help him with his medical bills can send a check made out to Jerry Gaskill. Mail it to: Jerry Gaskill, c/o World Entertainment Inc., P.O. Box 3095, Sea Bright, NJ 07760. One hundred percent of your gift goes to Jerry Gaskill to help him defray his medical expenses. Jerry Gaskill is an individual and not a charity. Any funds given to him would be a gift and no further tax deduction for charitable contributions would be coming from him.
