When did you stop watching The Simpsons?
I thought about posting this in the Simpsons 500 episode thread, but thought better about thread crapping. God bless you if you still like that slop. While Christmas shopping I realized that season 14 of the show was already what I considered pretty damn poor. Amazingly I stuck with the show through mid-way their 20th season. I realized that I've only seen maybe one episode in HD.
So when did you stop watching? When do you think it started to suck?

Never started. I have only seen some of the Halloween ones. I had always planned to watch it but for some reason or another I just never did. I even had a Bart Simpson t-shirt before the series was even popular 20+ years ago or so.

Re: When did you stop watching The Simpsons?
It was after they went to china that I stopped watching on a weekly basis (I think that was season 12 or 13) but I would still watch an episode here or an episode there. In college funny enough I tried to pick it back up because of the upcoming movie, but after that first spider-pig episode I gave it up for good.

Probably right around 2004. Prior to that I would watch the re-runs every day and watched new episodes any time they were on. I just don't really care anymore, not a bad show, just don't care.

Season 13 I was tapering off but at some point during Season 14 I was done. I started watching again in the middle of Season 19. I was bored over the summer and ended up watching all the episodes I had missed.
Hadn't missed much.
I still watch prime-Simpsons all the time, though. I can never tire of the old episodes.

Re: When did you stop watching The Simpsons?
Must've been about 12 years ago that I stopped completely.
I saw and loved the movie, and watched about 3 or 4 of the new HD episodes, but only out of curiosity because it had been so long.
If anything from the 1992 to 1997 seasons (can't think of what specific seasons aired during that span) airs in reruns, I watch and enjoy them more than any others from before or since.

Re: When did you stop watching The Simpsons?
This thread makes me sad.
I used to be one of those obsessive Simpsons fans. I watched it all the time, new episodes and old. Before the DVDs came out, I had a massive chunk of the series already recorded on VHS tapes that I watched a bunch. I still sort of watch the show. I don't have a series recording for it, but if I think about it and don't have any conflicts, I still record the new eps. If you had told the version of me in college that there would come a day that The Simpsons wasn't at the top of my TV show priority list, I would have laughed in disbelief at you. It's sad how far the show has slid from its glory days.
