For the diehard indie fan. I bought one of these memberships for someone as an Xmas gift a year ago. She did get a couple of interesting flicks out of it, but most of the stuff that year just wasn't very riveting. YMMV.

For the curious, I have written many highly recommended reviews for several Film Movement titles. The catalog is mostly excellent. There is the occasional film included that I don't enjoy or recommend, but it doesn't happen as frequently as you might imagine. If you read some of my reviews it might give an indication about the types of films the company releases and give an idea about how these might be able to match one's own interests.

Interesting, greatly appreciate your input.

Just FYI, my girlfriend's subscription ran from December 2010 to December 2011. The preponderance of the reviews you list above seem to come from that interval, yet we did not receive most of the titles on your list---just The Human Resource Manager and Colors of the Mountain. Not sure how they're picking the titles they send for the club, wondering if you got some of your disks as screeners since you are a reviewer. No matter. I support what the organization stands for, I'm just not sure that a "film of the month" club is always the way to go for casual indie viewers like us.

I was a member for a year a while ago. It was real easy to sell everything after I watched it for a profit over what I paid. A decent deal then.

$85 a year is a pretty good deal...I signed up for a membership. That works out to about $7 per movie (less when you factor in they send a short film each month as well). I only wish they had a Blu-ray option.

Can anyone vouch for the quality of the DVDs? They don't have "Property of 'X'" at the bottom of the screen or anything like that during the film, do they? Are they anamorphic?

How gentrified did you find the content?

Meaning is the type of fare you'd expect to see on PBS or is it more risque art that couldn't be aired on traditional art sources like PBS?

Thanks OP. My most recent subscription (also through Groupon) expired a couple of months ago, so I've been looking for this deal to return. The Groupon deal is $17 cheaper than any offer that I've seen from Film Movement directly.

Received my first DVD two days ago. Very pleased with their speed. I thought that they would start with this month's release, which should come in a few days.
