Re: Fringe -- "Welcome to Westfield" -- 2/10/12
Does anyone else feel like they are wasting the entire season? I mean, the episodes aren't bad, they just don't matter. These are not the real Olivia and Walter. 10 episodes left for the entire series and they still have not reunited the real cast. The "big twist" at the ends of these episodes just make me shrug and think "meh, who cares, not the real ______"

This felt like a standalone X-Files.
I don't think Peter is ever going back. The merger of the two Olivia's is just the beginning.

As I speculated last week, I think these characters are going to turn in to our Walter and Olivia eventually. The universes are going to meld or something. The show has been hitting on all cylinders since Peter has been back. The only misfire was leaving him off the show for several episodes, that was a pointless waste of time. This season might actually be the most consistently written season yet.

God damn I love this show. It starts out looking like a mythology episode and then they have me thinking it's a FotW episode then finally it ends up being one of the most pivotal mythology episodes of the season thus far.
I'm in complete agreement with Phantom. This IS the universe, there is no going back to blue, it's dead. They showed the future of that universe for a reason and that was to show us that it was unrepairable.

Stupid affiliate. Aired in widescreen but not in HD. Great ep though.

Yeah, I noticed that Walter seemed like the old Water from the first three seasons. Aside from eagerly going out into the field himself instead of relying on Astrid to examine anuses, he seemed more confident and sure of himself.

Wow, at 1st I thought I was watching a standalone episode like something from The Outer Limits, then things turn around as some of you already said and this episode becomes a very important part of the arc this season.
Yeah I am agreeing with the comments here that with the Universes apparently merging, it looks like the memories from the Blue Universe characters are being transferred over to these guys. It was so profound with Walter's actions in this episode. He was alot more open and jovial and you could see he was starting to care about Peter. Not only that but Olivia's little flashes and her dream of having sex with Peter.

Not at all. After viewing this episode, I think JH Wyman and Jeff Pinkner have done a fantastic job with this season. It's too little, too late now, but I just wish that more people who matter and have the ratings boxes were watching this live. If Fringe was still getting late season 1 ratings (10-12M viewers and over 2.5 in the demos) we could have a season 5, 6, 7 etc and not expect 4 to be the last.

Yeah, awesome episode this week. Any similarities to Persons Unknown aside, the stuff in the town was creepy and effective.

I have been behind, but took a mini marathon this weekend. Not only have he last 4 episodes been. consistently great, but they have been some of the best from the series! This episode was particularly great.
I think perhaps we've been in Blue universe the entire time. Things have just been different with Peter gone. Ultimately, I think these characters will revert back over. The alternative is that things are bleeding over to Orange from Blue, and not Red.
However, does that mean if these were to change back that others would too? Might we expect evil Walternate to come "back"?
