I recall seeing some movie on late night HBO in the 90s but I can only remember one scene. The main star of the movie is this regular old guy in high school, and a friend of his is gay. He walks in on the gay friend and this closeted jock/star of the football team messing around in bed. The football jock/star then begs for the main character not to tell, so I guess there's some blackmail part of the plot.

Movie has to be from the 90s. Anyone know what it could be?
