Synopsis:

Spoiler:
MARTIN BOHM (Kiefer Sutherland), is a widower and single father who is haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son JAKE (David Mazouz). But when Martin discovers that Jake can predict events before they happen, everything changes. Martin meets social worker CLEA HOPKINS (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Professor Arthur Teller (guest star Danny Glover) who may have the keys to help unlock Jake's mind in a special preview of the "Pilot" episode of TOUCH airing Wednesday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:07 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TOU-101) (TV-PG D, L, V)

FYI, the Pilot runs 67 minutes

13 episodes ordered. Very weird scheduling. Pilot airs tonight. Episode 2 will air March 19th, the week after Alcatraz finishes it's season. This will take over the Mondays at 9pm timeslot. When Touch wraps production in mid April, Kiefer says he will start work on 24.

Re: Touch -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/25/12

I am really not sure what to make of this show, at least not from the previews. And admittedly, part of that is because of just how difficult its going to be to separate Keifer from Jack Bauer.

I mean, here's another show on FOX, that will be airing in the same timeslot. It sounds like there will be similar topics covered, though it will be from a completely different perspective.

Then of course there's the man behind the show, Tim Kring. He last graced us with Heroes, and we all know how things went there.

It's intriguing, we get a little bit of Heroes, a little bit of 24, and shake them up. I have to admit, I'm just waiting or the first time that Keifer says "Dammit" or "we're running out of time!" (Clare Danes used that on Homeland, which has a lot of 24 history backstage)

I'll be watching, and hoping there's no moles, or cheerleaders, or Chloe.

I think this show looks like boring pablum puking sappiness, and I would completely disregard it if not for Sutherland's involvement.

I'll be watching, though I'm glad DJariya pointed out the scheduling. I would have been expecting more next week. Now we have to wait almost 2 months? I'm tempted to just save the episode until later.

The TV promos left me feeling this is a TV version of Know1ng.

No Chloe? No Kim I'd get (except for eye candy), but Chloe was one of the most popular things about 24.

In for Kiefer, not Kring.

Looks like Kiefer Sutherland in a Know1ng movie. I liked Know1ng so I'm in.

You mean the 24 movie? Now THAT sounds promising...

I'll check it out, but don't have very high hopes. Doesn't sound all that intriguing.

Was just going to post that I didn't know what to make of this show and was going to field opinions on whether to give it a shot.

After reading this though there is no chance I'm watching this show.

I predict that it will be mediocre. Kiefer brings his best, Kring brings his worst

and reading all these other posts, it sounds like we all have the same thoughts

I was planning on checking this show out, but I'm not liking the time slot at all. There are way too many conflicts for me. I'll try to check it out before it comes back for new episodes. I'm sure they'll re-air this at some point, probably on a Saturday.

What are you watching/recording at 9pm tonight? The only other new scripted show I see airing in the timeslot is Criminal Minds.

Tonight is just a 1 time deal to get some ratings off American Idol. It moves to Mondays at 9 in March.

You're right. I didn't realize my other shows at that time were reruns; however, those 6 extra minutes kind of kills it for me. Top Chef is a new episode, and I'm also recording the Australian Open. If I can get home from work in time, I might be able to switch up the Top Chef ep, though.

For all the reference to 3/18 in the preview, I am guessing they are airing episode 2 on 3/19 as a marketing tie in.

It will probably be a hit since it is on FOX but if it was on NBC everybody would say it is stupid and it would bomb in the ratings.

As long as the show focuses more on Keifer than the kid, I think I'm going to like it...if it becomes all touchy/feely, I don't think it will last long. The ads make it look promising. I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a weekly "my son is in danger" show.

Thanks for that bit of info, it's enough for me to pass on without seeing a single episode.

Re: Touch -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/25/12

Personally I think it's a horrible idea to premier a show and then wait 2 months to air the second episode - that's just too long. Many people who watch the pilot will forget or no longer care by the time episode 2 comes around. But the show should get a lot of sampling tonight with it's post-idol spot. Should be interesting to see the ratings for episodes 5 and 6 though...

I think the logic for FOX here is this: they have to decide on Terra Nova in the next few weeks due to the show having to start shooting in April because of its post-production needs. House is also near the decision point because they want to give the show time to wrap things up if this is the final season.

So if they waited until Alcatraz was done to start Touch, they'd have to make these decisions with no data on Touch. At least now they get an idea if people even have an interest in this show.

I'm not saying it's the smartest decision they could have made, but under the circumstances it's understandable.

I'm sure they will air an encore the night before episode 2.

Not sure why everyone on this forum is always such a downer with new shows lately. I'll watch anything with Sutherland. Looking forward to it.

Re: Touch -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/25/12

I thought it was amazing. Seemed more like a Movie than a TV show, so I just hope they can keep up the quality thoughout the series. We all know what happened with the last series Tim Kring created.
