Star Wars Uncut: Directors Cut Crowdsource Episode IV
Star Wars Uncut is a global project to re-record the original Star Wars movie in 15-second chunks. Anybody from the internet could submit a fan-made scene and, though you've been able to view these online for a while, the entire movie hadn't been stitched together yet. That's changed now, as the curators have posted their Director's Cut — a full, feature-length, shot-for-shot retelling of Episode IV: A New Hope. It's truly a sight to behold, with amateur live-action footage rubbing up against machinima, action figures, and Microsoft Paint animations. You should probably just watch it for yourselves, but our favourite parts were the trash compactor scene shot in a bathtub with a rubber chicken, and the reinterpretation of Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber battle as the chess scene from Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal.

I like fan films depending on the genre but this would be the biggest waste of time I could think of.

Geez, tough crowd. I think it seems pretty cool , although 15 seconds is pretty brief and I wonder how seamless it feels. Seems like a cool background video to put on at a party. A nerd party anyway.

Made it about 5 minutes in then had to quickly jump through the rest. I feel sorry for some of those kids in this video. I'm sure some of them love SW but you can tell a few, particularly one boy playing Han, were forced to play dress-up by their parents and would rather be doing something else.

Could barely make it two minutes in (while fast forwarding to see if it'd get better) before I shut it off.

There is a lot of shit in there but I laughed out loud a number of times. Just the various takes on C3PO designs was awesome.

I think this was very entertaining to watch. And it looked to me like a lot of people had a lot of fun contributing scenes to this.

I'll never understand shot for shot recreations of anything. If you like a property that much, go do something inspired by it. Don't just slavishly recreate it.

I mostly just clicked through the first half, and it seemed kinda neat. I could never sit and watch the entire thing, though.

Only watched about 30 minutes of it, but it's pretty clever and some of it if just plain funny. I'll likely watch the rest of it when I get time.
I'm glad I don't hold a personal grudge again all things Lucas.

Just reading this thread is all the effort I'm going to devote to this.

It'd probably be more fun and rewarding to watch something like this in a crowded movie theater with a bunch of film geeks than sitting at a desk watching it online.

Sounded like a super cool idea... I watched about a minute and had to stop. Was wrong about it being super cool.
