I thought the Barney stuff had its moments.
Read an interview with Carter and Bays this morning, which I now can't find, and there was nothing groundbreaking but a few interesting things. Everyone is contracted through next season, the 8th, but they would like to do more. Also, a couple of years ago they shot what will be the final scene with Ted's kids.

I cracked up so bad when the flashback said "Every night since 2005" because one of my friends has done the same

Terrible episode. The only bright spot was the different title cards.
Also, I just don't get the fascination with Chris Elliot. He has yet to make me laugh in this role. He need to go away.

I guess its just me as folks seem to still be enjoying this show, I am very close to deleting this from Season Pass, and I've been a fan from the start, but I think this show has gone way off the rails...

In general this show has lost a lot of it's funny. It's trying hard to just be poignant now instead of just being fun. It seems that every short one episode story this year tried it's best to be deep and thoughtful when most of them should just be silly.
Maybe this is the way the show has always been, maybe just that the thoughtful stuff used to be more funny.
At this point I'm in for the long haul. I really like this characters and am very interested to see how the rest of the show plays out. But week to week, I'm just not enjoying it like I used to. It's a trend with sitcoms these days when they hit their later seasons... same thing is happening with 30 Rock and the Office.

Worst episode ever. Did not even smile once let alone laugh. Time for this show to reveal the mom and pack its bags.

I read somewhere(I know, where?) that the creators could change the name of the show and go on another cople of seasons after they reveal the mom.

Hmm... I actually enjoyed the episode. I kinda wonder if they've moved Lilly and Marshall away knowing full well that it would faciliate continuing the show past season 8 if you didn't have to explain every episode where they are (since Jason Segal has said he's done after that I mean).

This show needs to end with the 8th season.
It's thisclose to wearing out it's welcome ... or maybe it already has.

I thought it was a funny episode with the Chris Elliot stuff being the least funny, although I got a laugh with Marshall knocking over the dominoes.
I still don't care much for Kal Penn's role. His character is so boring.

He did, but he's already backtracking off that. There were articles last week about how the show is still doing so well ratings-wise that it will be tough for them to wrap it after season 8. Segal now says that he'd be interested in staying on long enough for the conclusion.

Kal Penn was funny for a couple of episodes, but he has been around for about 6 episodes too long at this point.

I'm surprised people aren't liking this episode, I thought it was one of the funniest ones of recent memory. The alternate show intros, 'New' Marshall and Lily, drunk Ted winning at poker, the guy with too many things to get a nickname, Marshall's perilous journey to the fuse box... I thought it was all great stuff. Even Kal Penn had a few good lines.
Also, Chris Elliot doesn't really bother me. I'm not exactly a fan of his (who is really?) but I think he's good for the role here.
