I preferred Survivorman, too. There was one episode I had seen awhile back that threw me off though. They were doing a time lapse shot with the sun setting and there was 3 distinct shadows holding cameras.. I had always thought he carried his own camera and did his own thing. I was disappointed.

I'm assuming you're referring to Man vs. Wild.

Anybody knocking Bear Grylls and Man vs Wild is just ignorant. The guy has climbed Everest and been part of the SAS (arguably the most elite military unit in the world). Bottom line he's a badass and as good a survivalist as you'll know. I'd sure like to have him around if I were lost somewhere.
As the disclaimer before his show says, it's not about seeing if Bear can survive in hostile environments and reach civilization, it's about demonstrating what you should do if you're caught in the situations that he presents.
They are two different shows.

During the original broadcast of the first two seasons, he specifically said that he had nothing but a knife, a flint, and a water bottle, and that the camera crew was there only to film him. That was the show that I enjoyed.
When I later found out that he had been lying, I was terribly disappointed. It is for this this reason - his lying - that I don't like the show. He betrayed his audience.

Yeah, that was Bear. There are some pretty funny YouTube videos of people at some of the supposed "dangerous" locales that are featured on the show. Of course, it does kinda ruin the show after seeing them.

Saw a promo for the upcoming season of Survivorman. New episodes start airing August 19 on Discovery.

Hmmm. I can't seem to find this on DirecTV's schedule. Is it on a channel they don't carry?
Ok, I figured out the problem. Sort of. It's called Survivorman: Ten Days on Discovery. For some reason, it is not showing up in the seach, but if you search by day/time in the guide, it shows up.

Anyone watch these? Pretty good. He's doing 10 days now and breaking them up into 2 episode. In the Mexican island one, he basically called Man vs. Wild and Bear Grylls nonsense.

I've been watching (and enjoying) the new season. I do get a little bummed when the episode wraps up and I remember that they are two-parters now.

I think he mentioned at one point something like "Some experts will tell you to..." and then Les said do the opposite. I assume by "some experts" he must have meant Grylls? I don't remember the specifics off hand.
