The Closer -- Winter Finale -- "Silent Partner" -- 12/26/11
By djariya at 2011-07-10
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Episode 15 of 21
Last episode of 2011. Will return to wrap up the series next summer. Most likely in July.
Did anyone watch this? Kind of an anti-climatic wrap up to the Baylor case and Brenda's lawsuit.
Plus, we still don't even know who the leak is? I hope with the last 6 episodes we get some kind of arc that gives Brenda a good send off.
These 1st 15 episodes although still procedural were the most serialized this show has ever been in 7 seasons.

I agree that the resolution of the lawsuit/Baylor case was anti-climatic. I did like how Brenda and Fritz took the gang leader down.
I don't understand why they had to call the new rule the "Johnson Rule", why they can't change that name, and why Brenda is so fucking pissed off about it. I understand she says she doesn't think she did anything wrong (although she really knows that she was aware of what was going to happen when they dropped Baylor off at his house), but she just got out of a huge lawsuit scott free. No repurcussions to her career.

My guess is that without her day in court, and the fact that the rule has her name, people will think she was guilty of something. Perception counts and though I disagree with her actions where Baylor was concerned, I can understand why she was pissed about the settlement. I still can't for the life of me figure out who the leak is. My best guess is still Pope but that's not a firm guess.

That continues to be my guess.
He left the recording room first. He went up to the lawyer and told him to hand over the piece of paper with the names on it. I don't know. It just seems like something he'd do to make sure that he wouldn't be taking responsibility for anything.
I can't think of anyone in the department who would do it, tbh.

The series is ending? Why? Have the ratings dropped?
What was the basis for FBI getting a wiretap warrant on the businessman?

If you haven't heard, TNT ordered a spinoff called Major Crimes starring Mary McDonell, who is returning as Captain Raydor. It's supposed to air next summer after The Closer ends.

The ratings are still very good. It averages between 5-7M viewers a week. As Jadzia just said, Kyra Sedgwick decided to end the show. I believe she made the annoucement at the start of filming this season and TNT decided to order 6 more episodes to make it 21 this season to give the writers more time to write a proper sendoff for the show.

Thanks, did not know this.
Major Crimes should be good.
