with all thats going in the world I wish I could get excited about meaningless crap. personally id be happy with a generic rewriteable disc in a paper sleeve, the film itself is what is important

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

Yes every post on the forum there leads into a slipcover discussion, people buy movies based on if there is a slipcover or not. whatever.

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

Why would I want to throw something out that's part of the package I bought and usually has added visual value over the video case without it. Do you buy a hardcover novel and just throw away the cover that came with it too?

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

Slipcovers are nice but not a requirement. I'll take them if the release has them but I won't lose any sleep if it doesn't. That said, if it does have a slipcover, my OCD demands I get the most pristine one in the store. I'm sure I must get bizarre looks at Best Buy or Wal-Mart as I meticulously inspect each slipcover until I find one that is in good enough condition for me to accept.

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

I do like slipcovers and the fact they introduced the word "Lenticular" into my vocab. I won't lose sleep over not getting one but will get and keep them given the choice.

I never throw them away unless it's trashed (ripped, unrecoverable sticker residue, etc).

These are movie collector sites, I would expect most people who take the time to post are relatively serious about their collections. I've tossed a few I didn't care for (or too damaged) but I do like the way shiny, embossed covers look. I even re crease the edges so they fit more securely.

Why so mean, bro? Why you gotta point fingers?

This.

The only slipcovers I personally like are the lenticular ones that are usually on Blu-ray 3D releases.

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

I love Slipcovers, especially the lenticular 3D and embossed foil ones. They seem to add a lot of value to the Blus. They are less-reflective on the shelf and easier to read the spines. I'm a bit upset my Harry Potter 1-5 Blus have no slipcovers but my 6-8 do.

maybe move this to the cover forum

That would be ironic.

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

Slipcovers seem like a waste to me. In a world where we all try to be more eco-friendly (or at least pretend to be), what's the point of these slipcovers? I would think that the material used to make them could be put to better use.

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

I toss 'em in a box for an eventual re-sell. It does seem to add some value to people, so it's good to have them handy.

It's funny how the people that don't like slipcovers and throw them away always love to tell everyone else about it...

okay? just reverse that to it's funny how the people that like slipcovers always love to tell everyone else about them.

i think its great that companies are claiming to be more eco friendly by using the eco cases but then they put a slipcover on the package, makes no sense. i like slipcovers, i don't really give a shit enough about a slipcover to search them out.

maybe you should spend less time worrying about people collecting cardboard and focus that time on proper sentence syntax and punctuation.

Yeah I do agree with that, I guess my point is that with anything "collectable" there will always be people who love to shoot others down about it. I like slipcovers myself but definitely don't go to great lengths to acquire them. I also don't collect baseball cards or coins, but wouldn't throw them away should I find some. I do, however, collect Brewery pint glasses, which take up a damn lot of space!
