Casablanca 70th Anniversary Edition--Date TBA (pre-order up)
The return of Casablanca from the Warner vaults is up for pre-order on amazon. I don't see a date yet, but it will be another along the lines of the current UCE series. (Is this the first title to get two UCE's?)
A brief video on the site indicates that a new 4K master has been used. Extras include three (previously released) feature-length documentaries, 45 minutes of new content (not specified as to what that is), and a DVD copy. Non-disc extras include the usual behind-the-scenes book, a replica movie poster, and four drink coasters.
I don't own this on BD yet, so I'm glad I held off. But as usual, I'll probably wait for a release of the discs by themselves without the big box (unless a miracle happens and I can score this for $10.99 on BF like I did for Ben-Hur).

I was just thinking the other day about how I had failed to ever pick up Casablanca on Blu-ray. I guess I'm happy I waited now.

It was one of my first catalog Blu-rays and despite the grand reviews I was never too impressed with the PQ. Happy it's being remastered.

That's great news that they bothered to give it a new transfer this time. I'll be excited to pick this up when I can get it without

Bad news/good news for me.
The bad - I bought this earlier this year at Amazon for $13.99. It's still sitting on my shelf in the shrink wrap.
The good - just checked the listing, and Amazon will give me a $22 gift card to trade it in.
I will also probably wait for a Blu-only release to purchase the new version.

Considering I have owned this on VHS, DVD, HD DVD and Blu ray, I would say the odds are I will be picking this version up as well. It seems I am rather fond of "Casablanca"

I might double-dip if the eventual junk-free disc is under $10 and the transfer is a major improvement.

One of my first DVDs was the MGM release of this. I also have the HD DVD and the original BD UCE. Maybe my all-time favorite movie.

I was just about to buy the previous version when I read that it was going out of print to make room for this new version so I am glad I held out.
As with many of you, I will wait for the junk-free version like I did with Gone With The Wind and Wizard of Oz. I love all the disc extras, just not the book and coasters.

I've got mine pre-ordered. I think I'll drink to Bogie since I'll have new coasters.
On Blu-ray, I have Treasure of the Sierra Madre (excellent), African Queen (also excellent), and Caine Mutiny (the ship scenes look good on Blu-ray, the rest of it is OK).
Waited to get this one and glad I did since it has been further enhanced.
