The Thing (Prequel) - 1/31/12

Amazon has their pre-order up. List price is $34.98.

The Thing Pre-Order

Universal's Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack presents The Thing in its original aspect ratio of 2.39:1 with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. In addition to My Scenes, U-Control, and pocket BLU functionalities, the disc contains a number of bonus supplements, including:

Commentary with Matthijs Van Heijningen and producer Eric Newman
Two behind-the-scenes featurettes:
- The Thing Evolves
- Fire & Ice
Deleted/extended scenes

I'm guessing the artwork might change a bit.

This may be cool. I didn't see it in the theatre. But the $34.99 price tag is going to scare me away.

Wait a few weeks after release date and like most Universal releases, it'll be $9.99 - $14.99 in no time.

I'm hoping the deleted 'practical effects' version makes it onto the disc - the cgi shitfest we got in theatres left a lot to be desired... it wasn't all bad though so I'll grab it when it goes cheap.

That's what I'm hoping for but I doubt it. I bet they'll just say offering the deleted/extended scenes is enough.

I actually liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would, especially all the little details recognizable to those who saw Carpenter's version. Once it drops in price I'll be picking up.

I wasn't too hot on this when I saw it in theaters, but I'm willing to give it another day in court. I did like the ending, if only they'd stuck with the goddamn practical FX I'd probably have enjoyed it more.
