Community -- "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux" -- 11/17/11

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Dean Pelton directs a commercial starring the study group and a collection of the school's most colorful characters. Abed, meanwhile, shoots a behind-the-scenes documentary of the entire affair.

Another week of Community and another week where the majority of the U.S. isn't watching. Who wants to bet the ratings for this week are going to be an all-time low since people are assuming it's cancelled?

Well, let's try and make it not cancelled then! I've started a grassroots campaign on my blog. It worked for Arrested Development, Roswell, and a host of other shows, why not this one?

How did it work for Arrested Development? It got cancelled after three seasons too.

By not getting cancelled after two, which was a very real possibility

Troy and Britta killed it in their "scene" - hilarious. Joel McHale was amazing as the dean. Really impressive, especially from someone I don't consider a great actor. And crazy Annie was still crazy hot.

Enjoyable episode.

One of the weaker episodes in a while, but it did have some laughs. They've teased Troy & Britta for a while now, I wonder if they will ever move on it, or if we will find out about it after the fact, like with Jeff and Britta hooking up.

He nailed it. It was pretty damn uncanny. Had he shaved, he may have fooled a few people.

Didn't they bang each other in the first paintball episode?

Thought this was a definite hit in what has been a hit or miss season. Joel McHale really hit it out of the park. And the Troy and Britta hugging stuff was great. "Stop calling me different!!!"

Yes, but I was referring to their ongoing relationship that no one knew about.

Oh I don't know about that. I feel this show is tailor made for Joel. He pretty much shines in this role. That may be a homerific view though as I love watching him taunt the reality television and daytime shows on The Soup.

He's a lot more believable than say... Kelso/Walden... I meant Ashton as far as acting goes.

What did they put under Jeff's name when they introduced him? Sadly, my local affiliate decided that would be the perfect time to put a giant bug over the bottom quarter of the screen to remind me I'm watching NBC 5 so I didn't see it.

A little bit of Dean goes a long ways, and they've been using WAY TOO MUCH of him this season, much to the show's detriment, I think. He's just too shrill and annoying of a character. If you look at the better episodes this season, you'll see that he's barely in them, if at all.

I found this one disappointing. I don't care to know this much about the dean.

That's how I actually feel about the Chang character. From comments from this board he has a huge following and by no means do I hate him.

Small doses with him please. He can get annoying very quickly himself.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this episode. I really didn't care for it, but Jeff as the Dean might make it my favorite ever.

Isn't "ugh, a little Chang goes a long way" or "Great episode, no Chang" basically the sentiment in every Community thread?

Me, too. I even suggested it to my friends after we watched this but was vetoed for something else.
