Synopsis:

Spoiler:
"The Code War" - Angie (guest star Riki Lindhome), Max's high school girlfriend whom he dated before he figured out he was gay, moves back to town, and her arrival affects everyone: Penny is jealous of her (and then goes overboard befriending her); Alex develops her odd crush on Max; but the strangest reaction of all is from Max, who declares a "code war" when Dave and Angie date. Meanwhile, when Jane finds out Brad has a "work wife," she decides to get herself a "work husband" and sets her sights on the slightly unhinged head of Human Resources (guest star Hayes MacArthur), on "Happy Endings," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16 (9:31-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

at Jane's 3-hole punch line. Loved the work wife/husband stuff.

Great episode. This show has won me over.

This and Modern Family are one of my favorite one-two punches along with Sunny and The League.

I totally love this show and am glad it's starting to find an audience. Another very good episode, the code war stuff was great, especially the perm.

I agree. This show has gotten so much stronger than it was last season. I read an article by Bill Lawrence in EW this week about hoping a show dies so that Cougar Town can air mid-season, and he is pretty blatantly mentioning this one (excited it is strong because Eliza Coupe is on it - she was in the last season of Scrubs). Oddly THIS show fits better with the kind of comedy that Cougar Town features over being paired with Modern Family IMHO. While Modern Family obviously gives it a good lead-in, I'd love it if they were paired together with Cougar Town come spring.

OMG, this episode was rocking. The Work Wife/Husband stuff was really funny.

Brad: "OMG, that's a bra which is holding up your breasticles"

Damon Wayans Jr reminds me so much of his father. His mannerisms and his comedic timing are almost exactly like his Dad. He was great in this episode.

at Dave cooking in his truck in his underwear.

at Dave's perm.

I didn't get the Temple Grandin reference until I pulled up an IMDB search and saw there was a movie by that name with Clare Danes. Then it made sense.

I'm glad your liking this more. I recall a few months ago you were kind of lukewarm to the show.

If you look closely at the opening, it looks like Busy Phillips is standing right next to the coffee cart. Strange.

I thought that was her as well. She popped up on Community last season too. (I think Cougar Town/Community/Happy Endings all shoot on the same lot.)

^^^ That was her.

Cougar Town stars are making cameos on a bunch of ABC shows.

I saw Ian Gomez on Grey's Anatomy a week or 2 ago. Christa Miller and Courteney Cox were on Private Practice a few weeks ago.

I was laughing so hard when the Wayans character was going on about "On NO you di'nt!", etc. That was great! I just got into this show about 3 weeks ago, after thinking the pilot was ok. Glad I gave it another go

Josh Hopkins popped up on "Castle", too, as a cop wearing blues.

Yup I saw those other cameos. I hope it's mentioned once Cougar Town comes back.

I loved Alex crushing on Max.

I got the most laughs out of Wayan's nickname montage

Re: Happy Endings -- "The Code War" -- 11/16/11

Pretty funny episode, I still prefer New Girl to this one (go ahead and give me crap for that if you'd like ) but the show has definitely improved. The only episode I haven't liked this season is the one with Penny's mom.

The producers seem unsure of what to do with Elisha Cuthbert's character, but she had some good moments this week.

I feel they use her perfectly. (They've spotlighted her business, dating, etc this season thus far.) She was actually one of the things that almost kept me from watching the show initially as I think she's a terrible actress. This show has proven me wrong however. I think she fits in amazing with this type of show and cast.

I dunno, she just seems to be the least developed to me out of the group.

Well she does have tiny baby hands and a big plastic doll head.

I agree. I think they are having trouble finding someone for her to bounce off of. This week it was good, but still seemed a bit forced. She is kind of the odd person out.

She is one of the reasons I watched the pilot. Well the whole cast, but I do think she is adorable and a fine actress. Love that chin divot.
