I still have a hard time understanding the casting of DiCaprio as Candie. I pictured a fat middle aged bastard when I read the script.

That's the one part I wonder about as well. He seemed like an older fat fuck. I...I don't think they'll put all that on DiCaprio in terms of makeup....right? It'd be interesting.

Jackie Brown also opened on Xmas. The Weinsteins feel more safer with that date than Easter.
After checking out the imdb page, I had no idea that the casting looks to have almost been completely filled out by this point (Still surprised that QT hasn't resurrected any forgotten, throwback-actors from yesteryear. I guess that's just a schtick he's now abandoned)
And Reginald Hudlin is a co-producer??

Thanks for starting this thread, Osiris.
It's nice to have this clean one without all the bullshit of the previous thread.
I hate that we have to wait more than a year to see this film though.

Non-news news, from Collider:
Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire) is in talks to join Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and Ric Roman Waugh‘s Snitch. Williams was championed by the online community to play the eponymous slave-turned-bounty-hunter in Django Unchained, but the part ended up going to Jamie Foxx after Will Smith passed on the role. However, Deadline reports that Williams is in talks to play a supporting role, most likely the muscle for plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Williams’ reps are trying work out a deal with HBO so Williams can balance Django with his shooting schedule for the third season Boardwalk Empire.
Django Unchained also stars Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film opens on December 25, 2012. Hit the jump for details on Williams’ role in Snitch. [Update: Deadline is now reporting that Williams' reps couldn't get him out of his Boardwalk Empire schedule, so Django Unchained is scrapping the role entirely. There's your sad movie news of the day.]

Sucks. I would've loved to see Chalky White in this.

I'm sure they'll be plenty of bullshit in this thread too since it's quite awhile until the film is released.
