Chaplin 3D – Little Tramp´s Adventure (Uwe Boll)

Uwe Boll And Co. Re-Editing Charlie Chaplin Shorts Into 3D Adventure Film

Anne Thompson has run an e-mail from Uwe Boll’s Kinostar production company to a major studio, looking for their support in what sounds like a rather harebrained scheme. They’ve acquired the rights to several Charlie Chaplin shorts, are converting them to 3D and are going to edit them into a single feature called Chaplin 3D – Little Tramp´s Adventure.

Yep. It’s full-on lead balloon time.

Here’s the e-mail:

Hope you are well.

One of our partners is currently working on the 3D conversion of classic black and white movies.

He has secured the rights and is in the middle of production of several Charlie Chaplin movies, which will form one 90 minute 3D movie titled “Chaplin 3D – Little Tramp´s Adventure”. The 3D looks amazing, much better than most of the conversions which were shown in theaters so far.

We are looking for a US deal or possible worldwide deal (excluding German speaking and Turkey). The producer of the 3D version is in town now, and we could show you during or in the days after AFM a short demo reel with the 3D footage in a theatre from DCP.

Please let us know if this would be interesting for you. We would be happy to arrange a screening.
Seems from the opening that they won’t be stopping at Chaplin – and why would they? There’s plenty of public domain classics they could start fiddling with.

There are some fairly complex reasons as to why black and white images might look a little better in 3D, at least in respect of avoiding the accidental “cardboarding” that leaves some screen items looking flat to some viewers. As far as I’m concerned, my entire interest in this project (at least so far) would be in seeing if this by-product improvement actually occurs.

How long unti Uwe Boll starts making his own movies in 3D? I’ve got a hunch he’d start with a conversion of Postal…

ARRGGGHH!!!!!

I'd be a lot happier if Boll was actually remaking Chaplin's Little Tramp shorts in 3-D and filling them with some of his favorite players. Kristanna Loken doing Edna Purviance? Michael Madsen doing Ford Sterling? I am soooo there!

"3D" and "amazing" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

Nor should "Uwe Boll" and "Chaplin"
