Yeah, the shootout was great. Good episode for Van Alden too -- some intense stuff in the hospital with his colleague.

I really don't get the Margaret Schroeder character at all. Her motives, what she is doing, etc. She is almost too many different shades of black and white for me to follow. It drives me crazy.
Also, I may be crazy, but in the next week preview, did I see a quick shot of Jimmy and his mom getting it on?

I'm glad I stuck with this show. I wasn't crazy about the first season, but now that the characters have been established and have some history, it has all become very engrossing. I thought this was a great episode, lots of good writing and damn if this isn't the best produced show on television. It's really amazing how authentic it feels.
And the show is very funny. Very similar tone to the Sopranos IMO.

Then this season, the moment she told Jimmy's wife that she used to kiss Jimmy's "winkie" when she changed his diaper...eww...I suspected that something like this was coming. Very creepy.

I don't know about the ratings but HBO messed up by not releasing the DVDs before season 2 and probably lost the potential for new fans if they saw Season 1 on Netflix or some other device.

HBOGo is for people with HBO. DVD's hit people without HBO, who might be included to purchase HBO after seeing the show on DVD. Jeff's right.

I have HBO and not HBO Go. I'm sure there are lots of people like me who haven't been blessed with a cable company that is one of the 11 or so offering it.
If other HBO shows didn't convince them to get HBO, I doubt a DVD of BE was going to do it in any significant number.

I kept hoping Van Alden would come home to find her dead in bed. She's a terrible actress and extremely fucking annoying. Her breathless delivery of every single goddamn line makes me scramble for the fast forward button.

I agree. She talks like she's pouting all the time - which annoys the hell out of me. Plus I don't really find her that attractive either, naked or not.

As for the shootout in the woods, the tired old cliche of multiple guns firing from both sides, round after round, and no one getting tagged is really stale. And yes I know someone was shot at point blank range at the end of the scene which is a separate incident in my book.
