Love how they're expanding the mythology.

Still watching, even the theme is growing on me. The show has been okay although TVD has been solid this season.

Ratings seem ok - this week TVD got 2.85 million and 1.3 and TSC got 2.11 and 0.9.

Britt Robertson's breasts are the star of the show for me so far.

A male witch is called a warlock. It does not appear the writers spent too much time researching basic cultural knowledge about witches.

It does not appear you spent fifteen seconds doing a basic Google search.

Not as fast moving as the past few but it was definitely a great setup episode for what's to come. Interesting little twist with Jake.

No, don't believe everything you read in the first page of Google hits. The only people who don't think male witches are called warlocks are the handful of modern people practicing Wicca.

For hundreds of years in Christian Europe a male witch was called a warlock by 99% of the population. If you don't ground these type of fantasy shows in historical reality it takes a fair bit away from the storytelling.

Since this show is about the "handful of modern people practicing Wicca" and not the people of Medieval Europe, then calling the males "witches" makes perfect sense.

Re: The Secret Circle -- "Wake" -- 10/20/11

The only problem this episode was when Cassie's Grandmother gave her the crystal, and then as an after thought says, Don't tell anyone you have that. Why would she give it to her at this stage? Why not train her, help her, guide her then give it to her? And if the Grandmother is on the Elders council , she's gotta suspect that her daughters death wasn't an accident. Rant over but we all know Cassies gonna loose that crystal.
