I really liked this episode. I thought it was the best one so far. The acting by Francis Conroy was very good.

Fantastic episode. I feel sorry for the folks that bailed on this after the first episode. It's building some pretty fantastic stuff.

Also...Alby!

It's crazy but lets hope it is building towards something and isn't a mishmash of stuff thrown at us like on Glee.

Re: American Horror Story -- "Murder House" -- 10/19/11

Whats the story with the dude who's face is burned again? He lived in that house and burned it down but he survived somehow? Am I remembering correctly? So he's not like an undead person like the maid?

He bashed the mistress in the face and killed her. But isn't the first place the police will look is at the house? Seems kind of weak if it just goes away.

And from the flashbacks, I'm guessing the guy who built the house murdered his wife and baby and then did a Frankenstein on the baby? That explains the weird baby ghost thing in the basement?

I like the show.

Yep, he burned his wife and kids to death at the behest of the house (the house survived of course). Whether he survived or is a ghost/undead entity is still up in the air. Ben has been shown to be interested in fire (the fireplace, the stove burners), so there's definitely some foreshadowing there.

Do they have any way to link her to Ben, though? They can figure out she flew to LA, but I don't think there's a record of Ben being the father of her unborn baby.

Re: American Horror Story -- "Murder House" -- 10/19/11

So about the maid, only men can see her as a young woman?

I wonder if she will end up being "good".

Also, regarding "ghosts", have they established any rules about them, for example the maid, everyone in the house can see her, and I guess outside people too based in last night episode.

I still wonder if Jessica Lange is alive or not, I think she's alive, but have some doubts.

I would think that her friends or someone knew about the affair. His wife knew and apparently the mistress was a former patient.

Re: American Horror Story -- "Murder House" -- 10/19/11

When the burned face guy was digging the hole, the garment that he held up I'm assuming is the maid's uniform. So is there some connection between them being buried and then coming back to life? Will the mistress come back as one of the house's luminaries?

Also, Jessica Lange's husband was cheating with the maid. Was he/they in the murder house or in Jessica Lange's house? Why did the maid "come back" but not the husband? Weird. There must be some sort of magic involved that Jessica Lange is orchestrating.

More cards were definitely laid out on the table in this episode, though I am not sure that was a good thing. I wasn't as taken with this episode as the prior two episodes.

Didn't the detective see her at the house?

I think they've given us enough clues to this, but it's only my interpretation.

When Moira's around men, she appears young and beautiful because that was her appearance when she was murdered. I suspect the reason she comes on to men is because even though she was in the midst of an attempted rape at the time of her murder, she had a prior consensual encounter with Constance's husband and that imprint stuck. Thus, she's compelled to act that way around men now that she's a ghost. Around women, Moira acts respectful and looks as she would have now, had she not been shot by Constance.

Fixed.

Anyone else suspect Burning Man is just an alternate manifestation of Ben?

I bet Kate Mara's still around now that she's buried alongside Moria under the gazeebo.

They have met outdoors, so it would be interesting to see if burning man has interacted with someone else, or if someone else has noticed him.

Re: American Horror Story -- "Murder House" -- 10/19/11

Great episode. The opening back story from 1983 was great. Did they just cake on a shit load of makeup on Jessica Lange in that scene or do you think it was digitally altered to make her look younger?

I like some of the theories being tossed around here. I think the idea that the burned man may be some manifestation of Ben's subconscious holds alot of credence.

Loved the reveal that the maid is actually dead and is seen as young and beautiful to men. So I guess she's permanently tied to the house with her bones in that grave.

Did anyone notice Tim Minear's name in the credits? I am shocked how he always manages to get work after every one of his shows gets cancelled, especially 2 straight shows...Terriers and The Chicago Code. He must be friends with Ryan Murphy or someone at the studio to keep getting Producer gigs.

How are you comparing this to Glee? The 2 shows are nothing alike other than having the same creators.

It depends if Hayden's parents knew she was sleeping with Ben or not. If so, then he's definitely the #1 suspect if they file a missing persons report. Also, they never gave any indication of a time frame when Viv caught Ben banging Hayden and their move to LA. So there is no records how far along she is or him being the father.

I like how Ben was able to dig a 6 ft hole in the ground, bury the mistress and than build a gazebo with a concrete base in a couple hours

This could be. Just rough thinking he kept asking for $1000 and the gazebo he built would roughly cost that.

And the abortionist's wife is a manifestation of Vivian? No one has seen her except Vivian.

After the first epsiode, and again after the second, I felt ok, good enough to keep watching. Now, after the third, I'm hooked and really looking forward to the rest of the series.

I was disappointed she didn't wear more revealing underwear.
