Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Philadelphia gangsters may prove to be important middlemen for rival factions to get booze into—and out of—Atlantic City. Meanwhile, Nucky's lawyer hatches an idea to expand the scope of his election-fraud case; Owen's munitions experience comes in handy for Nucky; Chalky still feels like a prisoner even though he's out of jail; and Gillian takes advantage of the Commodore's vulnerability while recalling the night they met.

Only a couple episodes of the Commodore having power before it was taken away.

Was Chalky making a spear? Because I would really like to see Chalky spear someone. I guess the conversation at dinner leads to Chalky being illiterate. Which means the son sending the book to him was a slight and Chalky needs to whoop him.

The slow descent by Chalky these last couple of episodes has been great. I loved the way he was just sitting there stewing with the drink in his hand at the dinner table.

One of his daughters sent David Copperfield to their father. His son knows better, but his daughters have no idea about their father's illiteracy.

This has to suck for Dabney Coleman - he was finally getting some juicy dialog/screen time, and now what? You don't recover from a paralyzing stroke, especially not in 1921.

Dabney must have been fuming. "What?! A stroke, at the start of season 2?! Why'd ya hire me for, then, you sonsofbitches!"

not a lot of discussion for this show, as opposed to other "network" shows. I'm surprised.

Yeah, I wonder if the ratings for this show less than they were last season? And it's great when before the show it gets rated as having brief nudity and begins with a striptease by Gretchen Mol and also includes a great scenes with several whores from Philly.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "What Does the Bee Do?" -- 10/16/11

I simply don't like the show, I tried season 1, couldn't get into it at all, same goes for season 2 despite some eye candy.

It's been renewed for a 3rd season, and the ratings are lower than Season 1 (HBO cares about total viewers over 18 - 49 like most channels since it's subscription based), Season 1 premiere drew 4.809m viewers, Season 2 premiere drew 2.9m viewers. Season 1 pulled slightly above 3m viewers every week save for a couple weeks (it dipped as low as 2.5m), this season it seems to be between 2.5m and 3m viewers.

Season 1 Ratings:

<colgroup> <col style="width: 160pt;" width="213"></col> <col style="width: 118pt;" width="157"></col> <col style="width: 105pt;" width="140"></col> </colgroup>
Date Viewers (Millions) Adults 18-49 Rating
September 19, 2010 (Series Premiere) 4.809 2.0
September 26, 2010 3.329 1.5
October 3, 2010 3.406 1.4
October 10, 2010 2.572 1.1
October 17, 2010 2.85 1.3
October 24, 2010 2.812 1.2
October 31, 2010 2.67 1.2
November 7, 2010 3.213 1.5
November 14, 2010 2.984 1.2
November 21, 2010 3.049 1.3
November 28, 2010 3.004 1.1
December 5, 2010 (Season Finale) 3.294 1.3

Season 2 Ratings:
Ep 1. September 25th - 2.912m Viewers - 1.3 in 18 to 49
Ep 2. October 2nd - 2.598m Viewers - 1.1 in 18 to 49
Ep 3. October 9th - 2.856m Viewers - 1.2 in 18 to 49
Ep 4. October 16th - 2.546m Viewers - 1.0 in 18 to 49 (Series Low - can probably thank Walking Dead for this drop)

But these are all just debut ratings, doesn't include HBO Go, On Demand, or the billion repeats.

I watched the first three episodes last Sunday at a friend's house but it was late and I was not able to watch the current episode.

I'm actually enjoying this season much more than last as the actors seem to finally be settling into their roles. Plus there's a whole heck of a lot more Richard Harrow which doesn't hurt.

Richard Harrow and Chalky are getting some great scenes this season. I'm liking it so far.

yeah I agree- not much discussion on this show.

It was hard to get into this show this season because breaking bad's last 2-3 episodes were great.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "What Does the Bee Do?" -- 10/16/11

I was happy to see more Richard and Chalky and less Van Alden who is so creepy he's tough to watch. But I guess that's how it's supposed to be.

Speaking of seeing more...that 'show' for the Commodore by Jimmy's mom at the beginning was awesome. GM is *very* attractive.

That sure looked like a fun party with the Philly 'girls!

Was the garage that was blown up at the end the same one Jimmy and Richard were walking through that was stuffed with cases of booze?

That one fed agent was talking about tailing Van Alden into the garage?
Did we see that? I don't remember that from the last episode.

So Margaret is stashing away Nucky's cash just as that other woman from the previous apt. set up said she did wiht her sugar daddy, and Margaret stated she would never do something like that.
I believe the woman said something to the effect of 'you will be surprise what you are capable of doing.'

Nice sketch of Richard.
"Is it expensive.?"

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised at anything Margaret does.

GM is indeed quite attractive.

I think Van Alden may be an amalgamation. He's representative of public figured who are very staunch publicly at least in part to help deal with their guilt over their own private issues.
