Looking really good . Glad to have this show brought back and the villain this year seems to have potential to be one of the show's best yet.

Good episode, there seem to be at least two parallel characters to Dexter, Sam and Colin Hanks. Colin is of course, the more similar to Dexter, sister included.

Lahuerta keeps dragging the show down though.

Re: Dexter -- "Once Upon a Time" -- 10/09/11

I'm liking where this season is going so far. The villain is really cool and the old man with him seems to be his own version of "Harry". I'm a little surprised that they made Deb lieutenant of Miami Metro, but it should be interesting seeing where it goes. I liked the scenes with Dexter and Brother Sam and also Dexter to me feels like he's more himself again. Dexter seems like he's gone back to being a darker character once again (something I feel like was lost in season five) other than when he's around Harrison or Deb.

It would be interesting if the series ended with Deb and crew somehow going back to the Bay Harbor Butcher case and figuring out it wasn't Doakes and having Deb hunt Dexter as he alluded to in the episode.

Re: Dexter -- "Once Upon a Time" -- 10/09/11

Obviously with Breaking Bad getting all the hoopla on Sunday, this will probably be watched by alot of you casually over the week. It was a pretty solid episode.

Yup, Deftones called it regarding Deb getting promoted.

at Matthews promoting Deb to to screw over LaGuerta for blackmailing him. And I loved the reaction from Quinn during the Press conference. Batista surprisingly really took it in stride.

at Masuka staring at blonde hottie's ass and boobs....I liked it when he said..."Please don't sue."

It was interesting to see Olmos and Hanks characters bizarre relationship. So are we still questioning whether or not he's a hallucination like Dex's Dad? I'm curious to see if they will bring back Molly Parker again to resolve that demand Olmos made.

I liked Dex's voice overs here and as he was about to take out Brother Sam. Some really sharp writing here. I'm sure there will be more to the whole Brother Sam subplot later on.

I gotta admit this season has kind of bored me so far. Last season wasn't the best either. It's tough to top season 4, I feel this show is definitely going down hill.

I can't disagree more, this season so far has been great.

Once again Olmos takes no physical action in this episode. He did pick up the head and look at it but in the next scene we see Harry picking up and holding a toy truck.

I think I called it last episode.

Well, it hasn't been confirmed 100% yet. But I guess it will be a surprise if he really is a real (live) person.

Yeah, I noticed Harry with the toy right after showed EJO pick up the head.

Another thing I noticed is that when Dexter met Brother Sam, he made a comment about their dark passengers checking each other out.

I wonder if this means Harry and EJO will be able to see and interact with each other, or if Dexter will be able to see EJO and Colin Hanks will be able to see Harry.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but "Harry" is not Dexter's dark passenger. He is actually a construct of Dexter's mind whereby Dexter tries to imagine the advice that the real Harry would have given him in any given moment.

It does seem like they used Harry less last season, but so far he's been in both episodes...

Harry's role has varied from season to season. Sometimes he seems like an embodiment of the "dark passenger" but other times (like this season) he seems more like Harry.

I still think they should have Harry played by Richard Jenkins for one episode just to see if anybody notices.

On a side note, this is the new House of Lies spot that aired last night before this episode:

Dawn Olivieri being on this.

Religion is definitely the main focus this season.

The blonde intern is hot.

That would be cool. I wonder if the next series Michael C. Hall is in will also have his character conversing with his dead father. Why not make it 3 for 3?
Incidentally, Molly Parker was in a few episodes of SFU... although I think her only interaction with the regular cast was with Nate, not David.

I don't know why they're so determined to have Lahuerta in the story one way or another. It's never interesting and just takes away from the good stuff. I'd rather have them open up a major storyline on Masuka instead as he's one major character who gets little screen time and we know little about. Showing his perverted side is getting old.

Having just watched the last few season back to back right before this season, I think most of the seasons start off a little slow to build up the plot lines, but by the end of the season you forget how long it took before the season started to take off.

Thanks for pausing your Lost season 6 DVD to share your thoughts.

I disagree as well. I think the writing has been very sharp. Some of the voice overs from Dexter have been downright hilarious and I like the 2 (possibly 3) killers introduced. Every season is a slow buildup and it takes time to introduce these new characters.

Nice introduction to Brother Sam. Also, at Masuka getting caught by the intern.

I really liked this episode. Mos has a good presence on the show. Colin Hanks isn't that bad, I like how he has sister that is likely his only friend making him very similar to Dexter.

Overall, very good episode and great season.

Re: Dexter -- "Once Upon a Time" -- 10/09/11

Great episode.

Really like how they seem to be setting up Hanks as Dexter without Harry's guidance. The religion stuff is great too.

Mos Def's character was great. I hope he sticks around for awhile. He could end up being friends with Dex only to get killed by Colin Hanks.

And Colin Hanks really is a terrible actor. The character he's playing could be great but so far the acting has hurt him. Let's see how it plays out.

But really, how can you be so bad at acting when your dad is freaking Tom Hanks?

Agreed with Laguerta. I thought by promoting her they were slowly writing her out but now it seems they'll use her to be up Deb's ass all the time just like in the first season.
