Whitney -- "Silent Treatment" -- 10/06/11
By djariya at 2011-09-22
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Episode 3 of 22
In case you were living under a door mat, this got a full 22 episode season.
Just curious, is there anyone here who doesn't think this is the worst sitcom of all time?

Of all time...no.

Okay, maybe worst sitcom of the last 2-3 years. I don't know if this is a fair comparison, but Pefect Couples last season was ripped to shreads here. Eventually people started growing to like it...granted it was a single-cam sitcom shot on location.

I thought that How To Be a Gentleman was way worse than this.

Of all time, no. But it is pretty terrible, and I don't find it particularly compatible with NBC's other Thursday Night Comedies.
Whitney Cummings herself can surely still sleep easy knowing both this and 2 Broke Girls (which she is co-creator and an executive consultant for) have been picked up for the whole season.
Although, I can see this one turning out like Outsourced (run the full season and fail to be renewed).

How To Be A Gentleman is far worse than this. Also, The Paul Reiser Show from last season was pretty horrible. At least Whitney is easy on the eyes and dresses slutty in every episode so far. Even if the show has nothing else going for it, there is that one saving grace.
The biggest flaw with this show is that NBC put it with 3 of the best comedies on TV. Compared to the rest of the lineup, Whitney just comes off looking even worse than the steaming pile it already is. Put it with Up All Night on Wednesday, and suddenly both of those shows look better.
EDIT: Another possible candidate for worst sitcom ever may come next season. I just read on G4s ticker during Attack Of The Show that Snoop Dogg has been attached to star in a family sitcom at...wait for it...NBC!
For shizzle. I always wanted to say that.

I haven't seen Whitney at all.

I watched the pre-credits opening, and there were no jokes. The couple just flirted and then left to go have sex. Not even the audience of retarded tourists laughed at anything. Is this a drama?

Disclaimer that I haven't watched the show, but I've read that the cold open wasn't shot with a studio audience like the rest of the show is.

Yes, noticeable improvement in quality. It is a shame because both Cummings and Delia are hilarious in their standup. I wonder if they had to keep Whitney in check. It just doesn't have the same edge.
