Re: The Playboy Club -- "A Matter of Simple Duplicity" -- 10/03/11

Nice having Cassidy Freeman back on TV after Smallville ended.

I'm already tired of the mobster's son coming around every week confronting Maureen with "You're the last one who saw my father alive". Seeing this scene for what felt like the third time, it's getting repetitive.

I assume the undercover bunny is supposed to be a stand-in for Gloria Steinem -- who just happened to advocate the boycott of this show.

They are bringing out the big stars like Joel Gretsch and Colbie Calliet.

How did that undercover reporter become a bunny since she was kind of plain looking?

Good to see Tess back on TV. And now we're going to get a lesbian relationship with two hot redheads? Damn, why couldn't this show have been on HBO, Showtime, or STARZ?

I must be alone in liking this show for what it is and not expecting too much out of it. Hopefully, it doesn't get pulled soon.

UPDATE: Damn, I spoke too soon. According to Deadline.com, NBC is pulling this show. It doesn't say what will happen to the remaining episodes.

Yup, I guess they are going to air Prime Suspect reruns until their new news magazine show starts at the end of October. Wonder if they will put the remaining episodes online.

So we're not allowed to discuss this episode just because the show is cancelled?

Obviously with the show being cancelled, noone wants to watch 3 episodes of an incomplete story, so there probably won't be much discussion about this show anymore. But, a moderator isn't going to close a show thread just because the show is cancelled.

Ah, the wisdom of NBC ...... they're scheduling rereuns of a show that only has been getting about 5.5m viewers for first-run episodes ...... guess they figure they'll give everyone a second chance to not watch it.

Watching Monday's Playboy Club now. I liked the show. Shame NBC cancelled it. Poor Mr. LeAnn Rimes. He's out of work again.

Any chance they'll release more episodes on DVD/BD? I assume they shot more than 3, but maybe not. (Any other thread I missed?)

Bummer. I was digging it. Maybe Pan Am will be okay and give me the 60's cool-vibe that this show was doing.

They are reportedly finishing shooting episode 7 right now. It's possible they may finish out the 13 episode order for International Markets and a DVD/BD release. I think FOX (the studio producing it) would be inclined to do that since 7 episodes of an incomplete storyline are essentially worthless.

And to add injury to insult, he was rushed to the hospital last night after having his heel caught in a 200 pound metal door while on-set.

Why did they continue to shoot when the show's been cancelled?

^ See the post above mine. But even if they do shut down early, I'm sure they'd at least be allowed to wrap up the episode they were currently filming.
