Re: Homeland -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/02/11

That was fantastic. Excellent start to this series. Great supporting cast too. Besides Lewis and Patinkin, I was pleasantly surprised to see David Marciano from The Shield.

Looks like Howard Gordon took a bunch of 24's production team to work on this show. Sean Callery doing the score, Alex Gansa as a co-writer and producer, and Michael Klick as a Producer.

Damian Lewis was great. That was an awesome reveal at the end with Brody's hand gestures during his public appearances as some kind of signal. I also liked the flashback to Brody's capitivity that revealed he was responsible for his partner's death.

Even though it's early, it looks to me that Brody is indeed a sleeper Al Qaeda operative. I have to assume that Nasir has a backup operative in case Brody doesn't go through with this operation or fails.

It's cool to see Showtime put out a smart Political thriller in it's lineup this season.

Pilot was excellent. I was prepared for Claire Daines' character to be the typical savant at work whos smarter and more talented than everyone she works with. But I like that shes a complete fuck up, in her personal life and at her job.

Plus, going by the establishing shots, apparenlty she lives in The Exorcist house.

Re: Homeland -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/02/11

I had to look it up on Showtime's website because they never really said he who was. But Patinkin's character (Saul) is the Middle East Division Chief.

And I agree about Carrie. I like that she's a really flawed screwup and possibly psychotic as well.

at her feable attempt to seduce Saul and then he said..."What the fuck are you doing?"

Good little interview clip with Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, Homeland's creators and showrunners.

This was an incredibly good pilot. I haven't been this impressed with the series premiere for a show in quite a long time.

Can't wait until next week. Nice to see the woman from "V" as well.

Fantastic pilot! Can't wait until next week.

Great work from the entire cast (Danes, Patinkin, Lewis and Baccarin).

Apparently, this was Showtime's highest-rated drama premiere in eight years.

Anyone who watched the edited version owes it to themselves to see the unedited version. If for no other reason than Inara shows her boobs.

Great pilot. Inara from Firefly was pretty smokin' hot. Claire Danes is no slouch, either. The acting was excellent all the way around. The scene where Patinkin confronts Danes was fantastic.

Interesting how they're not even trying to be ambiguous about his sleeper agent status. I guess it will focus more on how he got to the point where he turned and what Danes is going to do to catch him.

Re: Homeland -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/02/11

It's by no means certain yet that he has definitely turned, though that's certainly the impression. The will to survive brings things to a pretty primal level. The progression from his discovery as a POW to running around the streets like any normal individual was quite rapid - there may be flashbacks to scenes we've not yet seen (within that time period) to come. He may yet turn out to be a double agent - or playing both sides.

Any show that starts its run with a naked Morena Baccarin has me forever. But seriously, I really enjoyed this -- reminds me of last year's "Rubicon".

Re: Homeland -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/02/11

How did she get into the CIA on anti-psychotic drugs? Or if it's something that came after her hire, how did she get diagnosed/a perscription without someone noticing?

Other than that I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure I could see this lasting 5 seasons though.

Re: Homeland -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 10/02/11

Carrie said she has been on the medication since she was 22. They never said when she joined the CIA. I assume that her character is in her late 20's or early 30's.

This show is based on an Israeli TV series that lasted 1 season. I can't see this running 3-4 seasons. Maybe 2 seasons at most, but it's a wait and see thing right now.

Seems odd to hide the pills in an aspirin bottle in you own house, when you live alone. Made me think it wasn't a legit prescription.

That's what I'm thinking.
Something the CIA doesn't even know about, officially.

I figured it was something she needed after 9/11, based on her comments to Saul ("But it was different for me.").
