What do you think of the Panasonic DMR-E10?

I saw this in Maxim magazine yesterday and they listed it at $3000. The Panasonic site says $3999.95. Way too steep for me at this point, but I wondered what people thought about it.
Also, any idea how much a disk is to record on it? - Well, I found out they retail at $34.99, but can be found for $29.99.
Found the recorder for $2699.88.
Looks really cool and sounds really cool until you start investigating. Playback is limited to the recorder itself or a computer that meets certain specifications. You can not play back on any other DVD player. So, for that much money and other than having a really cool gadget, what's the point?
