List price $20.95 for a DVD-R??? Can I get a job running off copies for them? Guess I should get around to watching my VHS before this comes out.

That's funny. I just got my copy of Dark of the Sun yesterday. It looked fine to me, but I guess I'm just not as picky about what discs I'm willing to watch.
Yes, the prices are too high, but for there are sales if you're patient. As far as the picture and sound quality are concerned, these discs are just as good as you'd get from a studio pressed disc of a second or third tier catalogue title, if any of the studios were still making them.
Pressed catalogue discs are history, with the exception of a handful of titles from Shout, Criterion, Blue Underground and the like.

I agree with SILVERSCREENVID. A shame about the economic downturn, closing of brick and mortar stores that stocked catalogue titles, consumers scaling back and/or switching their purchases to BR,etc etc.
Thankfully there exists another option for those still interested. I have no problem with Warners quality. I've purchased easily 200-300 titles . Maybe I'm lucky but I've had no more production issues with Warners MODS than I do with pressed releases. On the rare ocassion I need a replacement, I've been extremely happy with their customer service.
As for cost, yeah who wouldn't want it cheaper. By joining their insider's club you always get about a 10-20% discount or wait for a sale.

Didn't the cast record a commentary for this at one point? I remember seeing a video on YouTube where Yeardly Smith mentioned that they had.

I do recall when DVDs first hit the market they retailed for approximately $20-$30 each and were pretty much bare-boned releases. It was a small niche market at the time. Now these MOD offerings are servicing an extremely small clientele and therefore priced high again.
As an aging baby-boomer I'm just glad to be able to finally see these obscure films before my expiration date sets in.

These 20th Century Fox limited editions(3000) sell for $20. They are pressed. I'm curious how long it will take to sell all 3000.

Re: The Legend Of Billie Jean (MOD) - 11/15/2011
I'm with Ish. These MOD programs have opened the floodgates for so many catalog titles that would never have made it out otherwise. Warner has released close to 1,000 titles since they began Archives. In the old pressed days, that would have taken them 20 years at least, if ever (and since physical medium is already dying, that really means never). Sure, I understand the price concerns, but WA has good specials (don't they usually do that 10 for $100 deal around Thanksgivng?) so no complaining there. I have way less Sony MOD's only because they never seem to have a price break, but I'll get to the ones I want eventually.

Re: The Legend Of Billie Jean (MOD) - 11/15/2011
There's literally hundreds of Warner titles that would never have seen the light of day without the Archive. People who worry that they might not be able to watch their disc of Doc Savage ten years from now overlook the fact that without MOD, they wouldn't be able to see Doc Savage now or ten years from now.

This title was included in today's email from the archive. Apparently the disc will also include an "all-new" commentary, so there's that . . .

I had waited years for this movie to come on DVD and eventually just recorded it off an HD premium channel a few years ago and put it on disc myself. Wasn't going to upgrade for a DVDR, but now...

ah, just don't recall hearing it referred to like that before.
Since my copy is juts a direct VHS transfer, I might just step up too.
